Oleksandr Usyk only considers the WBC belt a “side dish”, Tyson Fury is the main goal

Although defeating Tyson Fury can confirm himself as the strongest boxer, Oleksandr Usyk does not consider this his most important goal.

Oleksandr Usyk successfully defended four WBA Super, IBF, WBO and IBO titles thanks to a technical knockout victory over Daniel Dubois at the end of August.

With each passing match, Usyk is asked about his goal of unifying all the most prestigious titles in the heavyweight division, with the missing WBC belt in the hands of Tyson Fury. If he successfully overcomes the “Gypsy King”, Usyk will be the first boxer to unify the heavyweight championships in the 4-belt era.

However, for Usyk, this is not the goal he is most interested in:

“Fury is quite funny and humorous, I don’t think about him too much, just meet him on the radio. I need Fury, the WBC belt is just a side dish, and he and I need to confront each other. People The fans will be talking about our match in 20, 30, 40 years. We need to fight.”

After the era of Mike Tyson, Evander Holyfield, and Wladimir Klitschko, no name has defended his position as firmly as Tyson Fury.

Overcoming Klitschko in the 2015 title fight, Tyson Fury is the owner of 4 titles currently owned by Usyk. Only when scandals about using banned substances and drugs outside the ring were discovered, the “Gypsy King” was officially stripped of his title.

Tyson Fury is the only boxer to ever own 4 titles: WBC, WBA, IBF and WBO, just not at the same time.

Back in 2018, Fury continued to create a stir with 3 matches with Deontay Wilder, knocking out the opponent twice to collect the WBC belt in his hands in early 2022. Only now, the belts are still available. again changed ownership from Anthony Joshua to Oleksandr Usyk.

Although Oleksandr Usyk’s number of belts is increasing, being the only person to ever hold all four of the most prestigious heavyweight belts makes Tyson Fury a must-have name that any boxer must overcome, if they want to. I was named the absolute champion of Heavyweight Boxing.

Currently, Tyson Fury is preparing for a match with Francis Ngannou at the end of October, a competition unrelated to the WBC title. What the audience is wondering now is, when will they witness the title unification match between the two top champions in the heavyweight boxing industry.
