Tom Holland has insisted he won’t speak out about his relationship with Zendaya as he respects her too much.

The pair sent fans wild when they were spotted kissing in a car earlier this year, confirming speculation they were an item.

But Tom, 25, has revealed he will only tell his ‘story’ with actress Zendaya, also 25, when the time is right, noting that he begrudged having to ‘share his love with the world’.

Tom told GQ: ‘You know, I respect her too much to say… This isn’t my story. It’s our story. And we’ll talk about what it is when we’re ready to talk about it together.’

The star, who appeared in Spider-Man: No Way Home with Zendaya, has spoken very little about his love life, and admitted he is still trying to work out how much to give away when it comes to having a high profile relationship.

He explained: ‘One of the downsides of our fame is that privacy isn’t really in our control anymore, and a moment that you think is between two people that love each other very much is now a moment that is shared with the entire world.’

Despite wanting to keep their romance under wraps, Tom took to Instagram last week to pay tribute to Zendaya after she was crowned Fashion Icon at the CFDA Fashion Awards.

‘Naaa stop it [love heart emojis]. An incredible achievement for the most incredible person. Congrats @zendaya and @luxurylaw you guys deserve every bit of this,’ the movie star wrote.

A fan joked that he was the leader of the ‘Zendaya fan club’, with the quip garnering thousands of likes.

Another delighted fan of the couple wrote: ‘the boyfriend material in this man’.

Romance rumours flourished for the pair after they met while working on Spider-Man: Homecoming in 2017.

An insider told PEOPLE in July that the pair have been romantically involved for years, but were attempting to keep their relationship private.

‘They started seeing each other while they were filming Spider-Man. They’ve been super careful to keep it private and out of the public eye but they’ve gone on vacations with each other and try and spend as much time as possible with one another,’ a source said.

Tom was linked to a woman named Olivia Bolton in 2019, but The Sun reported last April that they had called time on their relationship after nine months.

There were also reports that Zendaya and her Euphoria co-star Jacob Elordi became a couple in 2019, but he is now in a relationship with Cindy Crawford’s daughter Kaia Gerber.

After co-starring together in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the duo also acted in its sequel, Far From Home, and this December, will be seen in the next installment which is subtitled No Way Home.
