What did Cody Rhodes do wrong?

On Monday Night Raw after Mania, The American Nightmare gathered praise for Roman Reigns. Although he confessed that there is not much to ‘like’ about his arch-nemesis, he still respects him for his 1316-day title reign. One week later, on fans’ demand, Seth Rollins also received a public gratitude message from his former foe on Raw 04/15.

The brand new WWE Universal Champion cut a promo on the red brand to thank The Aerialist who came through with his promise and tried his best to defend him while his body had given up due to many untreated injuries.

WWE uploaded the promo in which Cody Rhodes is thanking his ex-rival on Monday Night Raw. Although Seth Rollins wasn’t present at the venue that day, the new champion wanted his message to reach him virtually.

Fans online didn’t like the sweet gesture. The problem wasn’t in the message that Cody Rhodes had for his new friend, but many viewers despised everything else about that promo.

IWC shows disapproval of Cody Rhodes as the Universal Champion

The comments under the Instagram post show how discontented some fans are with Cody Rhodes’ title reign already. Although it has been only a few days since his title victory, fans have started to demand WWE to take the title away from Rhodes.

This fan did not appreciate the way Cody Rhodes was holding the title: “I’m so over Cody, why is he holding the title so awkwardly? Why are his promos so dry? Ugh, I’m so done, crown a new champ already.”

Another viewer seems to have an issue with the ex-AEW EVP’s promos, even though they have been appreciated to be one of his best traits: “This dude comes out every week cuts the same exact promos, wastes time by talking about nothing, and can’t even hold the title properly.”

Someone online already needs a break from the new champion: “Can Cody get injured and take a few months off.. I need a break from him.“

An internet user predicts the future merely a few days following Rhodes’ title victory: “Cody will get boring really quick! The speeches are already getting old.”

Yet another fan who has a problem with the way that Rhodes is holding the UC, “This guy cant even hold the title properly.”

A Tribal Chief follower demands WWE to make things exactly how they were: “Bring back Roman.”

His promos seemed to have bored this fan: “Bro why does he say the same thing every week.”

Rhodes has to endure one more shot after finishing his story: “Finish story ❎ Finish WWE ✅”

Merely a week after his victory, the youngest child of Dusty Rhodes has been deemed to be ‘boring’. “Most boring champion ever,” reads one of the comments.

At last, we have one more fan who claims to be bored with the promos that Cody Rhodes is delivering: “This guy went from ‘finishing the story’ to reading us a bedtime story every week.”

Why fans feel this way seems to be a mystery. While one reason could be that The Tribal Chief’s fans feel jealous of the situation, some fans could be genuinely bored because they wish to see Cody Rhodes in action as the WWE Universal Champion.
