‘RIP The Rock, as you are dead now’: Twitter users poke fun at serious flaw in the actor’s movie poster, which shows him making a scientifically-impossible jump no man could survive

While action movies aren’t exactly known for portraying hyper-realistic stunts, some movie fans have taken issue with a particularly outlandish image from The Rock’s upcoming film.

On February 2, Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter to promote the summer flick Scyscraper. He shared a movie poster, which shows the 45-year-old hurtling through the air toward an open window in a skyscraper, having jumped from nearby construction equipment.

But as several fans have pointed out, it seems incredibly unlikely that The Rock would make it out of that jump alive — and in fact, several even did the math to prove he’s a goner.

This summer… Dwayne Johnson took to Twitter to promote the summer flick Scyscraper earlier this month, posting this movie poster

Bye, Rock! It quickly became the subject of mockery, as many pointed out that there is no way he could come out of the jump alive

Risky moves: Several even drew on the poster to show that no trajectory would land him safely

Quickly, fans noticed that something about The Rock’s jump didn’t add up. They pointed out that the actor — who is nearly halfway through the jump in the image — is already at too low a height to make it into the open window of the skyscraper, which he appears to be aiming for.

Some pretending to calculate his trajectory by drawing lines on the image, showing that by the time he reached the building, he’d already be much lower than the window.

‘Dwayne I analyzed the trajectory of this jump and the only logical conclusion is the movie introduces grav-boots or jet packs somewhere. Interesting sci-fi twist, can’t wait!!!!!’ wrote one.

‘Sorry Rock but we all know what’s going to happen here,’ wrote another, who edited the pictures to show The Rock plummeting to his death.

Going the distance: Some even did some math to show how near-impossible the feat was

Tough: A Twitter user name Christian figured out how fast The Rock would have had to be running off the construction crane int he top right corner to complete the jump safely

Sure, dude: He would have had to be running one mile per hour faster than Usian Bolt at his record speed

Scientific: Several plugged numbers into equations, taking The Rock’s height into account

Goner: This Twitter user also came to the conclusion that the actor wouldn’t make it

Another got a bit more mathematical in his approach, showing as many possible outcomes as he could come up with based on different ways The Rock could have jumped.

‘I’ve mocked up some parabolas for The Rock’s SKYSCRAPER jump. Red is assuming he jumped up a bit first; green assuming he ran forward and somehow didn’t lose momentum; yellow for a sort of squat-thrust thing,’ he explained.

‘Whichever you choose, rest in peace The Rock, as you are dead now,’ he added. ‘I mean there’s just no way he’s making that jump based on his current trajectory.’

Yet another actually plugged in some numbers.

‘So I did some science,’ he began, showing that he looked up The Rock’s height — 6’5″ — and put number into a mathematical formula.

But wait! Some came up with joke scenarios in which he would survive

A strong gust? Perhaps tornado-like winds could help land him within the building

Oh, that’s how! One user pointed out that it might be possible if he were on skis

Phew! Or, Doc from Back to the Future 2 could save him the flying DeLorean

He shoots… Others joked that he bore a resemblance to Michael Jordan dunking a basketball

Amazing! In fact, his position seems much more logical for a sporting event

‘Assuming that there is no “jump-off” (which seems to be optimal here), we can determine that The Rock would need to leave the platform at 12.7 meters per second (appr. 28.4 mph),’ he explained.

So, it seems, there is a way he could make it, if he had gotten a really fast running start, going at about 28.4 miles per hour. But, as the Twitter user went on, chances were slim he could go this fast.

‘For comparison, Usain Bolt’s fastest recorded speed is 27.4 mph,’ he added, pointing out that The Rock would have to have been running faster than the eight-time Olympic gold medalist.

Some simply had some fun with the image, Photoshopping The Rock onto skis or jumping alongside Michael Jordan in the middle of a slam dunk.

Spoiler alert. Doesn’t look like this ends well for @TheRock. pic.twitter.com/EovhO8JscZ
