Family over everything.
Los Angeles Lakers star forward LeBron James got some of the best news that he will ever receive on Thursday. His son Bronny James was cleared to return to the basketball court after suffering a cardiac arrest attack earlier in the year.
Bronny currently is on the USC Trojans basketball team but has yet to make his debut because of his health issues. But now with the highly-anticipated debut coming up soon, the elder James has already said that if his son’s first game with USC falls on the same day as a Lakers game, he will attend the Trojans game, as Jovan Buha of The Athletic relays:
LeBron James just said that if Bronny makes his USC debut on the same day the Lakers are playing, he’ll miss the Lakers game to attend Bronny’s game. He said he told his teammates on the flight over to OKC.
“Family over everything,” James said.

James has always been about family, and his missing one game isn’t the biggest deal. But some will look at this and criticize him for it.
There was no way James would ever miss the collegiate debut for his son, even if it meant missing a game with the Lakers. Even if he gets fined by the NBA as well, James will be in attendance.
The Trojans have two home games coming up over the next week-plus before they head on the road for the rest of December. Bronny is supposed to start practicing with the team next week, and then they will figure out when the debut will happen.
If they want the debut to be in front of the Trojans fans at the Galen Center, they would likely have to wait until early January. It could make some sense to wait, so he can fully ramp up over the next few weeks.
It’ll be interesting to see how this all plays out, and hopefully, the two games are on separate days. But if not, LA will have to manage for one night without their star player.
