Brilliant 13-year-old girl skips high school to study Medicine at US university, graduates with outstanding record

A 21-year-old girl who started her university education at an incredible age of 13 has become the youngest black female graduate of medicine in the United States of America (USA).

The exceptional 21-year-old girl by name, Zindzi Thompson finished her medical school at such age despite being required to have a Bachelor’s Degree before qualifying to become a Doctor.

At a very young age of 13, she enrolled for university at Mary Baldwin University in Virginia, USA and concluded her degree program at the age of 16. After her university degree, she enrolled at Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

A few years after her enrollment in Medical school, she has concluded her Medical studies the incredible age of 21 and has broken the record by becoming the youngest black female doctor in the United States.

Reacting to her exceptional feat, Zindzi recalled that she has always wanted to be a doctor for as long as she could remember. According to her parent, she has wanted to become a doctor since she was 3 years old.

“She’s wanted to be a doctor since she was 3 years old and we saw that she was a little bit different starting at three. So since she was three, she’s worked towards this goal,” Machelle Thompson (Zindzi’s mother) said.

Speaking on how Zindzi was able to achieve her exceptional feat in America, Samuel Thompson, Zindzi’s father stated that a big part of the process has been letting her go and achieving her goal without any hindrance.

“A big part of the process has been letting her go and achieve her goal. And that’s been the hardest part. The academics for her and knowing that she was going to do it was easy, but not having your daughter through those years was the hard part,” said Samuel Thompson.

Zindzi Thompson was highly interested in becoming a medical doctor as she wishes to continue her family’s rich legacy of becoming doctors. At least a dozen of her family members have graduated from Meharry Medical College in Nashville, Tennessee, USA.

She is set to continue her incredible educational journey at the Washington University Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis where she will start her psychiatry residency.
