Chelsea told they have a 21-year-old with so much potential, he’s going to be ‘amazing’

Don Hutchison has described Cole Palmer as the “brain” of Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side.

Don Hutchison recently spoke about Chelsea‘s many problems on ESPN, but for the former Liverpool man, Cole Palmer is definitely not one of them.

It is no surprise, as the 21-year-old has been excellent for the club since arriving from Manchester City during the summer.

His goal against Sheffield United over the weekend was his sixth in the Premier League for Chelsea.

Cole Palmer the brain of Chelsea

Hutchison, who has also given his verdict on another Chelsea signing Romeo Lavia, has praised Palmer but was quite critical of the Blues as a whole.

Discussing Palmer and Chelsea, he said: “Cole Palmer’s the brain of the outfit at the top of the pitch where he’s going to be an amazing player. But Reece James, there’s a stat with Reece James where he’s not played three games in a row for something close to three years.

“Thiago Silva’s still one of their best centre-halves and he’s 39. It’s like, we just don’t know what we’re watching week to week and nine times out of 10, they’re going to lose, but when they play a team in and around the bottom four or five, they might pick up a win. But it just sort of papers over the cracks a little bit until they play a top side again.”

Chelsea really relying on Cole Palmer

Palmer probably is the genius in this Chelsea team. He is the one who makes things happen in the final third.

According to WhoScored, the England international is completing 1.6 key passes per game, which is the highest average in Pochettino’s squad.

He is also scoring goals for Chelsea, with only Nicolas Jackson having netted more times than him in the Premier League.

It is incredible to think that Palmer is still just 21. It feels like he has been playing in the top flight and at Stamford Bridge for years. The former City man now looks to have a really bright future ahead of him.

Next up for Palmer and Chelsea is a Carabao Cup tie against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge. Win that, and they will book their spot in the semi-finals of the competition.
