Exclusive: Erin Moriarty, Star of The Boys, Discusses Possibility of Starlight Cameo in Gen V Season 2 After Spinoff Renewal on Prime

The Boys star Erin Moriarty addresses the potential for a future Gen V season 2 cameo. The first live-action spinoff of the darkly comedic superhero show introduced audiences to a new world and group of characters in its setting at Godolkin University, a school for Supes.

The spinoff also featured a handful of exciting cameos for fans of The Boys, including Antony Starr’s Homelander, Jensen Ackles’ Soldier Boy, Claudia Doumit’s Victoria Neuman, and more.

One prominent The Boys character that did not appear in Gen V season 1 was Moriarty’s Starlight, a member of superhero corporation Vought’s celebrity Supe team The Seven, while also being a secret member of the eponymous vigilante group.

Moriarty has previously stated that she “would love to be” in Gen V so long as it served the story. Now, speaking exclusively with Screen Rantthe Starlight actor elaborates on the idea of a Starlight cameo in Gen V and discusses the potential for her character to inspire the next generation of Supes. See what Moriarty had to say below:

It’s so wild to hear that concept of “inspiring the youngins.” But then again, the fun thing about playing Starlight is that she inspires me. These writers have written a character that has, in my mind, it’s one thing to be enabled, it’s another to be someone who has to actively overcome so much to transcend. So if she can exist in that world and inspire people just by being who she is, awesome, because she’s done that for me. It’s a very elaborate world, the opportunities are endless, and I have no idea, personally.

But I also know that it’s a world where there’s so many different pathways. Who knows, honestly, you never know what’s gonna happen. But if I’m not in that world, I know that it’ll be for good reason. They’re very intentional with their choices. So I’m game. I’m game for whatever they decide.

Starlight Would Fit Right In With The Cast of Gen V

Starlight’s journey in The Boys bears a striking resemblance to that of several Gen V characters, many of whom started their college careers bright-eyed and bushy-tailed in the exact way that viewers were first introduced to Moriarty’s character. Similar to Starlight, characters like Gen V protagonist Marie (Jaz Sinclair) wound up extremely disillusioned with the world of superheroes they had once idolized, leading them to have to figure out what kind of heroes they want to be. While the younger cast of the spinoff are still in the process of discovering their identities as heroes, Starlight has emerged as a righteous force on The Boys, often serving as the voice of reason both within The Seven and the vigilante group.

If Starlight were to appear in Gen V season 2it’s possible that she would show up with the goal of rescuing Marie and her friends, which could then lead to an attempt to recruit Marie to The Boys’ cause due to her formidable powers. It’s unlikely that Starlight would stick around for too long in the spinoff, since it has its own established core cast of characters and stands on its own feet with a separate narrative from the principal show. However, it’s not out of the realm of possibility that characters like Marie could in turn appear in later seasons of The Boys, depending on the events of season 2.

On the whole, Gen V tends toward heartwarming and inspiring moments slightly more than the principal show due to the protagonists’ ages and earnestness. Therefore, despite their cynicism about all things Vought, it’s possible that meeting Starlight, a hero that is truly still fighting for good, could bolster Marie and her friends in Gen V season 2 and help them feel more confident in their identities. While Moriarty is clearly ready to cameo in the spinoff if called upon, viewers will have to wait for the new season to see if the cameo comes to fruition.
