Anne Hathaway, an iconic actress known for her work in notable movies. Talking about how a movie for Barbie had been a dream of Hollywood for ages, Hathaway talked about Gerwig’s version of Barbie.

Stating that she had a very different version of a movie than what Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig created, Anne Hathaway spoke bluntly and truthfully about what she felt regarding the movie.

With the movie earning more than a billion dollars worldwide, Gerwig and Robbie’s movie about Barbie and the real world took cinemas by storm. With competition with Christopher Nolan’s Oppenheimer, the Barbenheimer event was extraordinary.

Amidst all the chaos and the celebrations, Anne Hathaway went to see the movie. In an interview on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, the actress revealed her true feelings for the 2023 movie and how she was glad that her version wasn’t made into a film!

“What’s so exciting about what Greta and Margot and that phenomenal team [did] is they hit a bullseye. The bullseye caused the entire world to reach this level of ecstasy. Now imagine that version. that much energy, that much anticipation, that much emotion… but it’s not the right version. I actually think of it as a lucky thing.”

Stating that her version of Barbie wasn’t the right version at all, Anne Hathaway was glad that Margot Robbie and Greta Gerwig came up with the movie. As the interview progressed, Hathaway couldn’t help but shower the Barbie actress with praise and compliments.

Margot Robbie’s fame has skyrocketed ever since she starred alongside Leonardo DiCaprio in The Wolf of Wall Street. Moving onwards to portray the crazy, psychotic role of Harley Quinn in Suicide Squad, Robbie solidified herself as a talented actress. Anne Hathaway agreed with the stance that Margot Robbie was indeed an inspiring sight to witness.

“Margot is sublime. What she is doing as a creative person and a producer is so exciting and inspiring. The mythic giants they toppled with [‘Barbie’] that have kept certain narratives in place that have not allowed opportunities to develop for so many people… they ran straight through it!”

The praise and compliments for Robbie and Greta Gerwig were indeed true as Barbie went on to receive a rating of 7/10 on IMDB and an 88% on Rotten Tomatoes. Earning a whopping $1.44 billion worldwide, the film is available to stream on Max in the U.S.
