Drake loses thousands of dollars, again, for betting on knockout against Colby Covington

The rapper lost out on a chance to win a million dollars

The Drake Curse struck again in the world of sports, but this time it bit the hand of the wielder as the rapper lost heavily whilst betting on the UFC bout between Leon Edwards and Colby Covington.

Drake, known for his success in music, has been involved in intense betting related to UFC events in the past and the present, but his latest one at UFC 296 did not turn out as he had hoped.

He bet $250,000 in favor of a Leon Edwards knockout over Colby Covington.Edwards could only win by unanimous decision, which meant the loss of the bet for Drake despite him picking the correct winner of the fighting contest. Had he been correct in his prediction, Drake would have won a hefty $1.2 million.

Edwards’ and Covington’s showdown was one of the most anticipated fights of the evening, as Edwards was defending his UFC welterweight title against the experienced Covington. The event attracted many celebrities to the venue, including Drake who is passionate about betting on the UFC.

This is not the first time Drake has been involved in this type of situation, having previously lost $275,000 on a bet when Covington defeated Jorge Masvidal, or $920,000 when Israel Adesanya lost his middleweight title to Sean Strickland.

We will wait to find out who the Canadian will choose to correctly, or incorrectly, at the next UFC event.

Drake has won millions in bets

Despite losses on these specific bets, Drake has also reaped considerable success and winnings on other occasions when betting on UFC events.

He took home $2.7 million when Adesanya knocked out Alex Pereira, and won $1.7 million when Jon Jones became a two-division champion in UFC after defeating Ciryl Gane.

So he’s clearly not too shabby on that scene, but for every bet won there are two losing ones and Drake is feeling his most recent loss.

Family campaigners have criticised as ‘grossly discriminatory’ plans to give trans men and lesbians access to NHS-funded IVF two years ahead of heterosexual couples. Under the controversial proposals, trans men – those born as women who now identify as men – will be automatically assumed to be unable to conceive, as will lesbians and single women. This means they will be immediately eligible for IVF on the NHS – costing an estimated £5,000 a cycle – if they meet the other criteria, such as a body mass index between 19 and 30, not smoking, being under 43 and not having a partner with a child from a previous relationship.
