Kyrgios and Drake bury the hatchet: You’re my favorite

Tennis player and rapper had a fling during Wimbledon in 2014

Nick Kyrgios has always been in the eye of the hurricane since he has been a professional player. The Australian’s behavior on and off the court has never left anyone indifferent. Surrounded by controversy, the tennis player has had numerous run-ins with fellow professionals and even with music stars who enjoy great popularity. One example is Drake.

The Canadian artist and the athlete engaged in an exchange in 2014 during Wimbledon. During the Grand Slam, a young Kyrgios, who was 19 years old, was beating Jiri Vesely in the first round in his tournament debut. After the match, the Australian left a statement in which he said that Drake’s music was not optimal for preparing for a match: “I came out very flat, so I hope I never hear that again! It was actually Drake. He didn’t do the job for me,” the tennis player assured.

A falling out for almost a decade

Those words didn’t go unnoticed by Drake. “I also want to meet this guy who says he lost because he listened to my music, I want to meet that guy and look him in the eye and see exactly who he is as a man, evaluate him and then cut him,” commented the rapper, another regular of the controversy. In addition, after the tennis player’s elimination at the hands of Marin Cilic, the artist took the moment to tease Kyrgios: “Nick what’s-his-name, because he didn’t win, that’s how he’ll be remembered, ‘Nick what’s-his-name.”

But the dispute finally ended this week with a conversation between the two through social media, in a conversation that Kyrgios uploaded on his Instagram and titled with a short, but very expressive sentence. “Sometimes my life isn’t real,” he shared on his personal profile.

In it, Drake began with the confession that Kyrgios was his “favorite tennis player” and that “when you told me he was trash it hurt me”. Something to which the tennis player responded by stating that he had not questioned the artist’s talent. “Haha, I didn’t say you’re trash. I love your music bro. I hope you’re well.” It all ended with Drake wishing the two had a reunion and wishing a speedy recovery to the Australian.

Family campaigners have criticised as ‘grossly discriminatory’ plans to give trans men and lesbians access to NHS-funded IVF two years ahead of heterosexual couples. Under the controversial proposals, trans men – those born as women who now identify as men – will be automatically assumed to be unable to conceive, as will lesbians and single women. This means they will be immediately eligible for IVF on the NHS – costing an estimated £5,000 a cycle – if they meet the other criteria, such as a body mass index between 19 and 30, not smoking, being under 43 and not having a partner with a child from a previous relationship.
