Though Starfox has yet to make a second MCU appearance, Phase 5 has already provided a strong hint to what the character’s power level will be.
Via Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, the MCU already offered a huge clue on Starfox’s power level in the MCU. Played by Harry Styles, Eros a.k.a. Starfox officially entered the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the first of two post-credits scenes in Phase 4’s Eternals movie. However, his one scene provided no indication of what he brings to the table as a superhero.
Even though Harry Styles’ Starfox made his big screen debut in 2020, there’s still no word on when Marvel intends to give the brother of Thanos a second appearance. For now, Marvel’s plans for him remain open to speculation. That said, his role in the comics sheds light on the potential he holds. In the world of Marvel Comics, Starfox was a valuable member of the Avengers team during the 1980s. For that reason, it’s not hard to imagine Starfox being brought onto the Avengers roster for one (or both) of Marvel’s Phase 6 crossovers, Avengers: Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars. As for how formidable of an ally he’ll be, Phase 5 already provided an answer to this question.
Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Shows How Starfox’s Best Power Will Work
In the comic books, Starfox’s signature power is the ability to psychically manipulate the pleasure center of a person’s brain. Having this in his arsenal allows Starfox to influence people emotionally, usually without them being wise to his interference in their chain of thought. Curiously, this power isn’t unique to him, as one of Mantis’ powers is nearly identical to it. The similarity was on full display in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which made much greater use of her powers than previous MCU entries. Throughout the film, Mantis used her powers to bend people to her will, making it instrumental to their victory.
Star Fox earned recognition in the 2009 edition of the Guinness World Records: Gamer’s Edition when it secured the 45th position on the list of the top 50 console games of all time.
The prison break scene was evidence of this ability’s usefulness in combat. With little effort, Mantis affected the emotional state of multiple guards, essentially taking them off the board. In one instance, she changed a person’s mood so considerably that he started dancing. This provides a preview of what to expect from the MCU’s Starfox, considering that what she did in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is akin to Starfox’s most important power. Its effectiveness in the movie reveals it can be a potent weapon in a future MCU movie, with Starfox potentially using it to avoid conflict and eliminate adversaries without violence.
Starfox Will Likely Be One Of The MCU’s Strongest Heroes
Physically, Starfox may be not the powerhouse that Thor, Hulk, and Captain Marvel are, but he is significantly stronger than the likes of Spider-Man, Drax the Destroyer, Vision, and other characters of a similar power level.
The way in which Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 underscores the value of Starfox’s pleasure center power gives credence to the idea that Harry Styles’ character is in a position to become a top-tier MCU superhero. Physically, Starfox may be not the powerhouse that Thor, Hulk, and Captain Marvel are, but he is significantly stronger than the likes of Spider-Man, Drax the Destroyer, Vision, and other characters of a similar power level. Boasting a combination of empathic abilities and super strength should make Starfox a true force to be reckoned with in the MCU’s future.
