“The answer to getting back together is not a good night at the club and f–king the night long,” Cardi said on a Jan. 1 livestream on X, formerly known as Twitter, per footage circulating on social media. “We need to work on our s–t. We need to work on our communication. There’s things that he needs to work on, there’s things that I need to work on.”

The 31-year-old added that she and Offset, 32, happened to be at the same party on NYE and that it was initially “really awkward” to not be speaking to her ex.

“I’m in my section, he’s in his section,” Cardi recalled. “So it’s like, ‘Man, just f–king come over here. Let’s just chill. We’re having a good time.'”

However, Cardi said the couple—who have broken up and gotten back together since tying the knot in 2017—were arguing again the following day. “We’re at a point in our relationship where we’re testing the space,” she explained. “That’s why I’m saying that we’re not together until we work out our issues.”

Cardi continued, “If it goes well, then we will be back together. If it doesn’t go well, then it doesn’t go well, but I always want to keep the healthy relationship.”

The reunion came two weeks after the “Bodak Yellow” artist confirmed that she had called it quits with Offset, noting on Instagram Live she’s “been single for a minute now.”

“I wanna start 2024 fresh” she shared at the time. “I’m curious for a new life, for a new beginning.”

The expectant couple celebrated their little one on the way with a fairytale baby shower. “It was a special moment for Offset and Cardi, and you could tell there was a lot of love between them and in the room,” a source previously told E! News. “They are both very excited about the baby coming and are counting down the days.”

The couple’s daughter, Kulture Kiari Cephus, is born on July 10, 2018. The name was inspired by the newborn’s musical father, with Cardi previously telling Ellen DeGeneres, “My dude named the baby. Shortly after Cardi revealed their split, Offset took to Instagram with an emotional plea that he later featured on his Father of 4 debut studio album. “We’re going through a lot of things right now, a lot of things in the media. I want to apologize to you Cardi. I embarrassed you. I made you go crazy,” he said in the video. “I was partaking in activity that I shouldn’t have been partaking in, and I apologize.
