It’s been the best of times and worst of times for Ariana Grande.

The thank u, next singer, 25, was emotionally moved as she accepted the honors for Billboard’s Woman of the Year at the company’s Women in Music event held in New York City.

‘This is really special,’ the No Tears Left to Cry artist said. ‘I want to say that I find it interesting that this has been one of the best years in my career and one of like the worst years in my life.’

The Boca Raton, Florida native was likely referencing her romantic life: She was involved with the late Mac Miller from September 2016 until their split this past May; months before his fatal overdose in September from alcohol, cocaine and fentanyl.

She was also famously involved in a short, intense romance with Saturday Night Live’s Pete Davidson beginning in June, which culminated in a brief engagement before the pair split up in October.

Grande stressed to her fans that she’s still figuring things out like anyone else.

‘I’m just saying that because I feel like a lot of people would look at someone in my position right now I guess – Woman of the Year, an artist that could be at her peak, reaching her you know, whatever, and think, you know, “She’s really got her s*** together, she’s really on it, she has got it all,”‘ Grande said.

Grande stressed to her fans that she can empathize with them: ‘I just want to say if you’re someone out there who has no idea what this next chapter is going to bring,’ she said, ‘you’re not alone in that.’

The Dangerous Woman beauty said that she looks forward ‘to hopefully learning to give some of the love and forgiveness that I’ve given away so frivolously and easily to men in the past to myself hopefully this year.’

She said that in spite of her wealth, fame and enormous success, she still finds the most comfort in her family and others who’ve been there from the start.

‘I have everything I’ve ever dreamt of having,’ she said, ‘and as of late I’ve discovered that it’s the things I’ve always had and the people I’ve always had that still make me the happiest.’
