A report has shared what Mikel Arteta has told Aaron Ramsdale about his Arsenal future as the Gunners seemingly look set to keep the England international beyond the January transfer window.

It may come as a surprise to some that Aaron Ramsdale remains at Arsenal as the deadline looms. The 25-year-old has barely featured for Mikel Arteta‘s men this season following the arrival of David Raya.

Few felt that Arsenal needed to sign another number one in the summer. Nevertheless, Arteta decided to roll the dice by bringing Raya in on loan.

Football Transfers reports that Arsenal intend to make Raya’s move permanent. And thus, some may be expecting Ramsdale to leave in the summer.

Ramsdale was apparently open to joining Newcastle in January. And some will think Ramsdale will need to move on at the end of the season.

But the report from Football Transfers claims Arteta has no intention of letting Ramsdale leave unless Arsenal sign another goalkeeper of similar quality. And he has told the England international that he wants him to stay and fight for his place.

Goalkeeper should have major reservations about sticking around

Ramsdale surely cannot consider sticking around unless there is a genuine chance of getting another run in the team.

Raya was really poor in the early weeks following his move. And it seemed that he was lucky to not lose his place.

His form has been better more recently. However, those previous months will leave Ramsdale wary of sticking around.

Ultimately, he would surely love nothing more than to be a success at Arsenal. But he surely cannot watch another season from the sidelines.
