The Allure of Luxury: Delving into Lionel Messi’s Extraordinary $2 Million Watch Assortment.

Lionel Messi completed the final missing piece of his career after he lifted the World Cup trophy in 2022. Following Argentina’s triumph in Qatar a couple of years ago, Messi has won everything there is to win in soccer. He also owns eight Ballon d’Or titles and numerous Champions League trophies and league titles. However, the Argentine ace is also the proud owner of several wristwatches.

Boasting an eye-watering net worth of $600 million, Lionel Messi likes leading a lavish lifestyle. He owns several lavish properties, luxury cars, a private jet, and so on. The Inter Miami star also owns some of the most expensive timepieces in the world. He was recently spotted wearing a $52,000 Patek Philippe (via Antonella Roccuzzo’s Instagram) watch while he went out with his wife Antonella Roccuzzo.

Lionel Messi teamed up with Jacob & Co. for his signature timepiece

Back in 2019, Lionel Messi collaborated with American brand Jacob & Co. to produce a signature watch. The timepiece, the Epic X Chronograph Messi, is a limited edition watch and only 180 pieces have been made worldwide. The 47mm watch is made with 18K white gold case. It also consists of 141 carats of baguette diamonds and the crown is adorned with single round diamonds.

The watch also features a blue mineral crystal dial studded with expensive stones such as diamonds, rubies, and sapphires. It has a white alligator strap and displays Messi’s signature ‘M’ at 6’o clock. The retail price for the Epic X Chronograph is listed at around $165,000. However, the one spotted on Messi’s hand is estimated to be somewhere around half a million dollars.

Lionel Messi’s long-standing relationship with Audemars Piguet

In 2010, Lionel Messi became the first soccer star to become the ambassador of the Swiss watch brand Audemars Piguet. Audemars Piguet and Messi collaborated to produce the limited edition of The Royal Oak Leo Messi. The watch is based on the Royal Oak 41mm chronograph series of which only 500 has been made. However, only 100 pieces of The Royal Oak Leo Messi Limited Edition were produced by Audemars Piguet.

A total of 1,000 tantalum bezel pieces of The Royal Oak were created. Out of the 1,000, only 500 were in steel, 400 in rose gold, and just 100 pieces in platinum. The limited edition timepiece for Messi was the rarest platinum variant. The current price of the watch is estimated to be $125,000. However, Messi has been spotted wearing another Audemars Piguet The Royal Oak series that costs around $75,000.

Lionel Messi’s Patek Philippe collection

Lionel Messi boasts a huge collection of Patek Philippe timepieces. He owns a Patek Philippe Nautilus Perpetual Calendar 5740. Made with white gold, it has a bright blue dial with gold-applied hour markings. The estimated price of the watch is around $250,000. He was spotted wearing the watch during the FIFA World Cup 2022 in Qatar where he won the ultimate prize.

The Argentine ace also has a Patek Philippe Aquanaut Luce Rainbow 7968/300R. Made with 18K rose gold, the Aquanaut Luce Rainbow is surrounder with sapphires on the outer bezel and has 40 diamonds studded on the inner bezel. Besides Messi, other celebrities like Kris Jenner, Kevin O’Leary, Corey Gamble, and the Crown Prince of Johor also own the luxury timepiece whose cost is around $490,000.

The former FC Barcelona skipper also owns a Patek Philippe Aquanaut Chronograph 5968A ‘Orange’, which is the first piece of the Aquanaut Chronograph series. He also has a $125,000 Patek Philippe Chronograph 5968G made with white gold and featuring a midnight blue dial. Lastly, Messi is also the proud owner of a one-of-a-kind Patek Philippe Nautilus 5811 that he showed up wearing to one of Inter Miami‘s Leagues Cup matches.

A look at Messi’s affinity for Rolex watches

Lionel Messi appears to be a huge collector of Rolex watches, possessing as many as five Rolex timepieces. Shortly after signing with PSG in 2021, Messi was spotted wearing a rose gold 40mm Rolex Yacht-Master worth $32,000. In a picture with Antonella Roccuzzo in the same year, Messi was pictured wearing a Rolex Daytona that goes as high as $35,000.

Moreover, Messi was wearing one of Rolex’s less pricey watches during a trip to Ibiza with his family and his club teammate Luis Suarez’s family. Messi wore Rolex’s The Oyster Perpetual which cost around $6,150. Although, on the secondary market, The Oyster Perpetua can go up to $24,000. Last, but not least, Messi owns a $12,300 36mm two-tone Rolex Datejust and the $200,000 white gold and diamond encrusted Rolex Submariner.
