In January 2025, a newly established team golf league is set to make its debut on the PGA Tour. Supported by major figures such as Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy, this emerging team golf initiative is named TGL. Officially announced to debut on January 7, 2025, during prime time on ESPN and ESPN+, the event is highly anticipated. The U.S  TGL will consist of 6 teams of the PGA Tour pros and they will compete in a fast-paced form of team golf.

TGL’s venue is the custom-built SoFi Center, a sprawling 250,000-square-foot facility situated at Palm Beach State College in Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. The launch is scheduled for the initial three Tuesdays of January 2025. ESPN’s coverage will feature TGL’s week two match on Tuesday, January 14, 2025.

The video released by NUCLR GOLF demonstrated the format and unveiling of TGL, featuring Rickie Fowler‘s voice for the introduction and explanation of the league’s format. The buzz surrounding this fresh approach to team golf is evident across social media channels. However, some fans express uncertainty and negativity towards the TGL.

How did fans react to the TGL backed by Tiger Woods and Rory McIlroy?

As the video from NUCLR GOLF went viral, fans took a step and expressed their thoughts towards this new team golf. However, not all fans appear pleased with TGL, and the comment section of the video witnessed that.

One fan outright rejected the idea of the new team golf, stating a preference for “Majors and Ryder Cup” events. They mentioned they might watch something else on Sundays but expressed no willingness to tune in to TGL.

One fan conveyed their hesitancy towards TGL by stating, “I’m maybe on this,” indicating they are undecided. They expressed a desire to “see” how it plays “out first” before giving it a try.

Another fan commented, “This is going to be big-time failure” as They believe that this Woods and McIlroy-backed team golf won’t live up to the hype it has generated.

Another fan had similar thoughts on the potential failure of this initiative and specifically pointed out, “If Rory is playing,” suggesting that McIlroy’s involvement might contribute to its downfall.

One fan went a step further and criticized Fowler, stating, “Only way Fowler can win now,” suggesting that this represents Rickie Fowler’s final opportunity for victory.

The potential of TGL can only be witnessed in January 2025 after its release. Will you be tuning in to watch TGL? Share your thoughts with us!
