Homemade syrup cures even the most persistent cough: Bay Leaf and Lemon Syrup for Cough Relief

  • Ten bay leaves
  • One whole lemon
  • 200 ml of water

Simple Steps to Create Your Cough Syrup:

  1. Preparation: Begin by gathering your bay leaves and a whole lemon. Ensure the lemon is thoroughly washed, as you’ll be using both the zest and the juice.
  2. Boiling: In a small saucepan, bring 200 ml of water to a boil. Once boiling, add the bay leaves. Let them simmer for about 5 minutes. This process helps to extract the essential oils and beneficial properties of the bay leaves, infusing the water with their healing essence.
  3. Infusing Lemon: After simmering, turn off the heat. Grate the zest of your lemon directly into the saucepan, then cut the lemon in half and squeeze the juice into the mixture. The lemon adds a vitamin C boost and a refreshing flavor that complements the bay leaves beautifully.
