Robert Eggers’ “Nosferatu” tells a gothic tale of obsession between a haunted young woman and the terrifying vampire infatuated with her, unleashing untold horror in its wake.
The film, directed and written by Robert Eggers, stars Bill SkarsgΓ₯rd as the titular vampire. It serves as the second remake of the 1922 German Expressionist film of the same name, originally directed by F. W. Murnau. Development on the project began in 2015, following the success of Eggers’ “The Witch.” Although initially planned as his second film, Eggers postponed production to direct “The Lighthouse” and “The Northman.” Anya Taylor-Joy was initially attached to the project but later dropped out due to scheduling conflicts. SkarsgΓ₯rd and Lily-Rose Depp were cast as leads in September 2022, with Nicholas Hoult joining the cast the following month. Filming took place primarily in and around Prague from February to May 2023.
