Nigerian man whose mom sold her clothes to sponsor his education achieves success, bags 3 degrees and PhD, makes mother proud

Dr. Kolawole recently obtained his doctorate in Accounting at Babcock University, Nigeria. Narrating his story on Linkedin, he said that pushed through so many challenges to become an academia.

He mentioned that he recalled his mother trading her clothes in exchange for a loan for his West African Examination (WAEC )she was not able to pay back. Dr.Kolawole added that it was then he made promise that he would strive to get to the summit of his educational journey.

”Maami Aduke……I remembered how you were forced to trade off your clothes when you were unable to pay back the loan you took to pay my WAEC fee in the year 1997,” he said.

Dr. Kolawole started this tertiary education at Federal Polytechnic Ado Ekiti where he earned a higher diploma in Accounting and Finance. Afterward, he proceeded to the University of Benin where he obtained a bachelor’s degree in Accounting.

Upon finishing his undergraduate studies, Dr. Kolawole went on to earn a master’s degree in Accounting at the University of Lagos, and a Master of Philosophy (MPhil)in Accounting at Babcock University before bagging his Doctorate.

Aside from his academic qualifications, Dr Kolawole is also a Fellowed Chartered Accountant.

Dr. Kolawole stated that his achievement means so much to him because 30 years ago, he was asked to drop out of Secondary School by his sponsor for no justifiable reason.

He said going to school was like an elephant trying to pass through the eye of a needle as he was a subject of ridicule, Shame, and stigmatization among his classmates for some obvious reasons.

Dr. Kolawole recalled that his father asked me to drop out of school in 1992 to learn Carpentry which left him and his mother in tears but with the help of his elder sibling’s sacrifice, he continued school.

He stated that he is happy to have fulfilled the promise he made to his mother as he has now been officially hooded and conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Accounting unfortunately she was not alive to witness it.

”Your SON has now been officially hooded and conferred with a Doctorate Degree in Accounting. Unfortunately, the cold hand of death didn’t allow you to witness this day. Continue to Rest in Peace Maami ADUKE…. TEARS! TEARS!! TEARS!!!,” he said.
