The actress just gave birth to her first child with husband Adam Shulman.
Anne Hathaway and husband Adam Shulman just welcomed their new child: a baby boy named Jonathan Rosebanks Shulman. Hathaway gave birth to the boy the morning of March 24, and she spent time surrounded by family and loved ones before announcing the big news late last night. This is the couple’s first child.
“The baby is extremely healthy and is surrounded by friends and family in L.A.,” a source close to the couple reportedly told E!. “Anne and Adam are ecstatic to be parents.” And the couple gave the baby’s middle name some serious thought before landing on the unique “Rosebanks.” According to E!, Rosebanks is a combination of Roseline—the name of Hathaway’s paternal grandfather—and Banks—Shulman’s middle name and mother’s maiden name, making it a creative celebration of the baby’s heritage.
Hathaway had never been shy about her desire to become a parent. “I want to be a mother, and I anticipate loving my children quite fiercely,” she told Vogue in an interview in November 2012. “I think about it all the time. [but] it’s a silly thing to think about, because the kind of mother I’ll be depends on the kind of children I have. I can’t wait to meet them.” Not even four years later, Hathaway’s dreams of motherhood have come true—much to her and Shulman’s delight.
The two took care to cultivate a healthy lifestyle during Hathaway’s pregnancy, and they managed to fit in some alone time before the exciting arrival of their child. “She is still keeping healthy and active, [but] she is taking it easy as much as she can,” another source close to the couple previously told E!. “Anne has more time now with her husband and … Adam has been really helpful and is so excited on the baby. Adam and Anne are doing great as a couple, and this whole baby process is a bonding experience for them both. ‘One baby at a time,’ she says but she would not mind one more after this.”
