Usyk became the undisputed world heavyweight champion on Saturday night after a split decision victory over Fury in Saudi Arabia.

The Ukrainian fighter was awarded the contest by two judges after the 12-round fight, while the other scored the clash in favor of Fury.

The judges scored the bout 115-112 Usyk, 114-113 Fury and 114-113 Usyk, as the 37-year-old secured all four heavyweight belts.

Usyk had become into the contest holding the WBA (Super), WBO, IBF and IBO titles.

The 37-year-old claimed Fury’s WBC belt by beating the Gypsy King, becoming the first undisputed heavyweight champion of the four belt era.

In a social media post, which has had over one million likes in eight hours, Usyk showed off his new belt.

‘Welcome to the family,’ Usyk wrote on social media.

The photo also showed off injures sustained by Usyk during the brutal contest on Saturday night.

Cuts are visible close to both of the Ukrainian’s eyes, which have been patched up following the contest.

The Ukrainian was rushed to hospital after the right, with Fury claiming that he broke his opponent’s jaw during the bout.

Speaking after the fight, Fury said: ‘We just had a fight. Have you seen my face? It’s pretty busted up and he’s just gone to the hospital with a broken jaw and he’s busted too. We’ve punched the f*** out of each other for 12 rounds there.

‘So we’re going to go home, eat some food, drink a few beers, spend some family time, walk my dog, go to the tip and me and Frank will talk about what will happen in the future.’

The newly-crowned champion was told to miss his post-fight press conference by his promoter, Alex Krassyuk, who was himself informed by the doctor that Usyk needed to go to hospital.

But the Ukrainian, insisting that fans needed to hear from him, chose to talk to the media before heading to hospital in the ambulance. No update on Usyk’s exact injury has yet been revealed.

Usyk had been forced to battle through the early stages of fight as Fury took control in the opening rounds.

The 37-year-old fought his way back into the contest and delivered a barrage of punches to leave Fury floundering in the ninth round.

Fury came through being rocked in the ninth to finish the contest, but Usyk emerged as the winner.

Usyk is set to be the undisputed heavyweight champion for only a matter of the weeks.

He is expected to be stripped of his IBF title, with the 37-year-old instead focusing on a contracted rematch with Fury, which is expected to take place around October.

This is because Filip Hrgovic, Usyk’s mandatory challenge for the IBF title, won’t wait for that rematch to take place, meaning the IBF belt will be vacated by Usyk and then up for grabs when the Hrgovic takes on Daniel Dubois in June of this year.

Whoever wins in that June bout is then expected to face Anthony Joshua at Wembley in September.

This means that by the time of Usyk and Fury’s rematch, the victor of that bout will not be the unified world champion as they will be missing the IBF crown.

Usyk played down the issue of losing the IBF title in a press conference following the fight.

‘I don’t think about boxing now, please,’ Uysk said when asked about running it again with Fury.

‘My camp started in September 2023, I worked for nine months. I missed Happy New Year, I missed my son’s birthday, I missed my other son’s birthday, I missed my daughter’s birthday and then the birth of my daughter.

‘I also missed family holidays. I was only focused on this fight, now I’m happy and I want to go back home.’
