Since 2005, the giant python has eaten 10kg of chicken every two weeks, at a cost of $25, leaving the family barely able to afford it even with the help of visitors bringing food. eat for it.

By 2011, the year python Chamroeun was 12 years old, his “brother” Oun Sambath was also that old. However, Chamroeun is up to 5 meters long, the diameter of the largest body is nearly half a meter, the weight is up to more than 150kg and it takes 4 adults to carry it out of the room.Chamroeun’s size is 6 times larger than Oun.

Mr. Samol said that Chamroeun had never bitten anyone before, but it sank its teeth into Oun’s lower leg.

“While the python was biting my son, I tried to break his tail and make him open his mouth,” Mr. Samol said. “Its teeth are quite long so blood flows out a lot.”Little Oun was taken to a local clinic. Just a few days later, the wound was almost completely recovered, except for small scabs and light bruises on his calf.

Immediately after Oun returned home from the clinic, Samol called a rescue team to take Chamroeun to the Phnom Tamao Wildlife Rescue Center and zoo in Takeo province.

The center’s director said Chamroeun will not be able to leave the zoo or live in the wild. “Because the python is used to be fed, the python cannot catch wild animals to eat, so we cannot release it. We may have to keep it in the zoo for a long time.”
