The men continue to wrestle with the huge shark – which one estimated weighed as much as 600 pounds – slowly but surely getting it back into its natural habitat.

As he eases the sharks tail into the water, onlookers watch with bated breath to see if it will make it back out to sea, with one asking if the killer fish is still alive.

Miraculously, the rescue was successful, and the shark makes its way out into the ocean, with the men’s efforts cheered by onlookers.

Witnesses said the shark had become stuck on the sand after they saw it travelling at a ‘fast speed’ towards the shore.

‘We were sitting on the beach just having a good time and my buddy just said, ‘Look out in the water there, man.’ I see that fin and I was like, yeah, it was two or three sandbars away from us,’ Josh Fey, one of the rescuers reportedly told WKRG.

‘Eventually it just turned to the left and started coming directly beeline toward the shoreline, and I said, “That’s a big shark coming in.”‘

‘And we thought it was chasing some bait or whatnot, but it came all the way to shoreline and beached itself.’

Those who kept a safe distance from it were rightly worried, as Mako sharks are known for their particularly ferocious bite.

Makos are among the world’s most dangerous sharks, with ten recorded attacks on humans, one of which was fatal.

They can grow to up to 13ft in length and are the fastest recorded sharks in the world, capable of leaping great distances out of the water.
