“I like the Tom Ford Contour/Highlight Duo Cream — I’ve used that for a long time,” she tells me about her secret to what is basically an IRL Instagram filter. “And I like the bareMinerals Pro Glows because they double as a blush and a highlighter, so I like whatever’s quicker to just throw on … I use them on my cheeks, and up on the highlight areas.”

On Thursday, September 13, bareMinerals announced Hailey as one of the new faces of their “Power of Good” campaign. (The initiative launched in July with Black Panther star Leтιтia Wright.) “Clean beauty in all its forms is important to me and I love the fact that bareMinerals can deliver on this promise and still create products that are amazing for skin,” Hailey said of the partnership in a press release. “I’m excited that my partnership with bareMinerals allows me to celebrate a world I already embrace every day.”

Having spent much of her adult life bouncing from pH๏τoshoots to runway shows and back again, Hailey knows her way around a makeup kit. And despite the fact that she has some of the best makeup artists in the world on speed dial (on the day of the bareMinerals Event, she tapped celeb favorite Nikki DeRoest to help with her look), she prefers to do her everyday makeup herself. Since her jam-packed schedule usually leaves with less than five minutes to get a look done, she’s got the whole rapid-fire #facebeat down to an art. “[I keep it] super natural,” she says. “A little bit of concealer in the places I need it, powder, highlighter, a little bit of blush, mascara, lip balm. Boom.”

To supplement her barely-there makeup look, Hailey makes skin care a priority. “I swear by Barbara Sturm Skincare Products,” she tells me. “I’ve used those for a while now.” Last year, she revealed that she swears of the the top doc’s $1,400 MC1 Blood Moisturizer, which is made of, well, blood. (“When I explain this to people, they think I sound insane,” she told Teen Vogue at the time. “She took blood from my arm and put it into a machine that spins it and separates the plasma from your blood before putting it into a lotion for your skin.”) Gross? A little. But effective? Based on what Hailey’s skin looks like during our conversation, 100%.

Though Hailey’s go-to product costs as much as a semester of textbooks, not all of her favorites are bank-breakers. Her “desert island” beauty product that she couldn’t live without is a tube of Aquaphor, which clocks in at $2.99. “You can use it on your skin, and lip balm, eyebrows,” she says of the multi-purpose ointment. “I don’t particularly use it on my skin as an everyday thing, but always on my eyebrows and lips. I put Aquaphor or Vaseline on my brows before I go to bed, and you can use it on your lashes too if you’re careful.”

Not only does Hailey love beauty, but she also really knows what she’s talking about. She started learning about makeup long, long before she’d earned a role as a beauty brand ambᴀssador, and has spent years perfecting her craft. “I used to be a ballerina, and we used to have to do our own stage makeup, so I kind of learned that way,” she says of her beginnings in the world of beauty. “And my grandma used to be a makeup artist, so she helped me as a kid. She loves lipstick, and has taught me a lot about the texture of things she really likes, and brands that she really likes. And then obviously doing shows and doing pH๏τoshoots, you kind of watch what people do and you learn.”

Another source of beauty inspo for Hailey: Her squad of famous friends. “I’d let Kylie [Jenner] do my makeup any day,” Hailey says. “I trust her. She’s amazing.”
