A Hollywood movie star made a recent appearance in Monroe County.

Keanu Reeves, famous for movies ranging from action-packed franchises like “The Matrix” and “John Wick” to comedies such as the “Bill & Ted” series, was spotted in Stroudsburg, where he stopped for a photo with a few fans.

The actor posed with Downriver Brewing Co.’s owner, Steve Brancato, for a photo that was posted to the company’s Facebook page.

“You just never know who you’re going to run into on Main Street!” read the Facebook post accompanying the photo. “Have a great show at The Sherman tonight, @dogstarband !”

According to a staff member with Downriver Brewing Co., Reeves – who has a reputation as a kind and friendly guy off-camera – came across as “exactly as advertised” in his brief interaction with the owner

“He came across as a very humble, down-to-earth guy,” said the brewing company in a statement. “When Steve approached him to take a picture, Keanu responded ‘of course’! It was drizzling that morning and Keanu even warned Steve to be careful to not get his phone wet as there was some water dripping from the awning above where they were lining up their selfie.”

Reeves, in addition to his decades-long career as a leading man, also plays bass guitar for the rock band Dogstar. The group performed a sold-out show at The Sherman Theater in Stroudsburg on Oct. 7.

And as a musician, it’s not much of a surprise that he also stopped by Main Street Jukebox, another business on Main Street.

“Keanu Reeves stopping by the shop today,” read a post on that company’s Facebook page. “Such a nice down to earth guy. Make sure to catch his band Dogstar tonight at the Sherman Theater! I love my job!”

“All I can say is that is was a real pleasure meeting Keanu Reeves,” said Tom LeFevre, owner of Main Street Jukebox, who also posed with Reeve for a photo. “He was very friendly and very cool. His band Dogstar put on an amazing show on Saturday night. It was an exciting day in downtown Stroudsburg for sure.”
