The athlete won her 34th medal in the championships on Friday — making her the most decorated gymnast in sports history

Simone Biles is reflecting on her historical performance at the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships.
The gymnast — who won her sixth all-around world championship gold on Friday — posted a series of photos of her and her team’s reaction to winning the championships in Belgium on Instagram Saturday.
“Team finals 🤍 it was an interesting & unexpected night!” Biles, 26, wrote in her caption. “I’m so proud of the fight Team USA put out 🇺🇸 It’s such a blessing to represent the US at another World Championships!”
“Also go WCC ❤️,” the gold medalist added, referring to her gymnastics academy, World Champions Centre.

In the first photo, Biles stood with her mouth open and hand raised to her face as she was surrounded by the rest of the gymnastics team. Former Olympic gymnast and WCC coach Cecile Canqueteau-Landi was also captured with her arm shot in the air as she cheered on in the background.
Biles went in for a group hug with her teammates in a second photo, and then continued to embrace Team USA members Joscelyn Roberson, Zoe Miller and Canqueteau-Landi as they soaked in their win in a final snap.
“SO PROUD 🔥❤️ Love being able to watch you do your thing 🤞🏽,” Biles’ husband Jonathan Owens commented on his wife’s post.
“You’re incredible! 🤩 thanks for leading the way! ♥️,” Team USA gymnast Leanne Wong added.

Biles secured Team USA’s gold win in the final in Belgium Wednesday

Earlier in the week, Biles sealed the victory for Team USA’s win at the 2023 World Gymnastics Championships with her final floor routine, as she won more than two points over Brazil, achieving a score of 167.729.
Biles then reached record-breaking status on Friday after she won her sixth all-around world championship medal as she scored 58.399 points, securing the title for the most medals won by a gymnastics in sports history. (Biles was previously tied with Belarus gymnast Vitaly Scherbo, who competed in the 1990s, with 33 medals.)

The gymnast shared her reaction to her gold win after the competition broadcast.
“I was emotional because it was my first worlds here, 10 years ago, and then now my sixth one, so it’s crazy,” Biles said. “But I swear, I do have something in my eye that’s been bothering me for like four hours and I cannot get it out.”
