Spaniard ignored the club divide to praise his role model, Ronaldo
Xavi’s Barcelona are in fourth place and look set to battle hard to retain last season’s LaLiga title, with a very competitive top of the table alongside Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid and surprise package Girona.
One of the players who has been left to rue the first half of the season has undoubtedly been Ferran Torres, who was instrumental in Barça’s 27th LaLiga title in 2022/23.
With all this, Torres’ youth and potential suggest he could soon turn his situation around.
Torres’ praise for CR7 and Messi
Despite now being a Barcelona player, Torres came through the youth ranks at Valencia and because of his age, he got to experience first-hand the prime of the battle for supremacy in world football between Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo, praising CR7 for keeping pace with the Argentinian for so many years.
As a result Ferran Torres hasn’t hidden his admiration for Ronaldo, despite the Portuguese being a Real Madrid legend.
“I think Leo (is the best in history). What Leo has done, I have not seen anyone do,” said Ferran Torres.
“I haven’t seen Maradona or Pelé, there was even Ronaldinho when I was very young, but Messi, to be there for 20 years, every year scoring 50 goals and 50 assists is crazy.
“But I also have to tell you that for me, Cristiano is a leader, an idol, because to compete with the best player in history, that has an incredible merit. Competing with him and taking the Golden Ball away from him.”
