YG Entertainment recently removed the profiles of G-Dragon and Taeyang from the artist introduction section on the company’s official website.
This move was made after YG confirmed that G-Dragon was no longer an artist of the company last October, right in the middle of a scandal of suspected drug use by the male idol. In this announcement, YG confirmed that the Big Bang member’s exclusive contract with YG ended in June and the male idol did not re-sign the contract.
Similarly, Taeyang also moved to a new “home” – The Black Label – in December 2022. This is a subsidiary of YG Entertainment.
On the other hand, the audience continues to be curious about the extension of the exclusive contract with BLACKPINK when YG still maintains the group’s name on its website. YG once again confirmed that the members are in the process of negotiating even though the previous contract expired in August.
Due to BLACKPINK’s significant contribution to YG’s revenue, news related to the contract extension caused the company’s stock price to drop significantly. A series of rumors broke out about members leaving YG while still maintaining the group, making shareholders confused. However, YG confirmed that no decisions have been made at the present time.
