Barcelona forward João Félix has today provided his take on the recent criticism aimed in his direction by a number of his former Atlético Madrid teammates.
The name of frontman Félix has of course taken its place front and centre in the Spanish football headlines once more across the week to date.
This comes ahead of Barca going head to head with the Portuguese’s parent club, Atlético.
In anticipation of the clash, Antoine Griezmann piqued widespread interest, in suggesting that Félix failed to make the grade in Spain’s capital owing to his inconsistency on the pitch.
As much was then reiterated by Rojiblancos shot-stopper Jan Oblak, with Saúl Ñíguez another to have previously taken aim at Félix, in stating that he could have done more with his time at the Wanda Metropolitano.
With Sunday’s highly-anticipated showdown between Atléti and Barcelona now just 48 hours away, the statements put forth by his ex-teammates were therefore put to Félix himself, during an interview with Movistar+ (via Diario AS).
First, regarding Griezmann’s comments, the 24-year-old hit back, as follows:
“I disagree. Everyone has their opinion… and I’m not going to comment.”
Félix was more open to taking on board Saúl’s criticism, albeit whilst adding that he was not the only one at fault:
“Obviously things could have been done better. Both me and everyone else. There have been things that have not been done well, but it was not just the fault of one person… it was the fault of several.”
