UnitedHealthcare CEO Brian Thompson was separated from his wife when he was shot dead outside a Manhattan hotel. Thompson, 50, was gunned down in the early hours of Wednesday as he was on his way to an investor conference at the New York Hilton Midtown. His unidentified assassin remains on the loose but cops have released a photo of him smiling and have searched a Manhattan hostel where he’s believed to have stayed. At the time of the killing, Thompson and his estranged wife Paulette had been living in separate homes that are less than a mile apart in suburban Maple Grove, Minnesota, the Wall Street Journal reported.

London Mayor Sadiq Khan is set to receive a knighthood in the New Year honours list, Whitehall insiders say. He will receive his award for political and public service after almost two decades in frontline politics. Having previously been a Labour MP, Mr Khan became the first Muslim mayor of the capital in 2016 and was elected for a third term this year.
