Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino has a lot of faith in Nicolas Jackson.
According to TEAMtalk, Mauricio Pochettino believes that Nicolas Jackson is on the right track to becoming a more reliable goalscorer at Stamford Bridge.
This season, the 22-year-old has scored six goals in 13 Premier League appearances, which includes a hat-trick against Tottenham Hotspur.
However, he has not convinced everyone, with former Chelsea player Craig Burley recently stating that he would rather see Armando Broja in the side.
It seems, though, that Pochettino really believes in Jackson.
Can Nicolas Jackson become a reliable goalscorer for Chelsea?
We think he can. Jackson is still just 22 years of age; he has time to develop into a much better striker.
The Senegal international has not been in England for too long, but his record in the Premier League is pretty decent, though you can obviously argue that it has been inflated by his hat-trick against a nine-man Spurs side.
Jackson is working under an excellent coach in Pochettino as well, so that will also help him as he looks to become a top centre-forward.
It could take years for Jackson to become a reliable goalscorer, though, and Chelsea need one now. They are outside the top four and nowhere near the sides who are challenging for the Premier League title.
If the Blues want to get back into the mix now, then they need a reliable source of goals immediately. Jackson may eventually become that, but Pochettino cannot afford to wait around.
That is why it would be great if Chelsea could go out and bring in someone like Napoli’s Victor Osimhen, for example, but that is easier said than done. The Italian club will not want to let their talisman go, especially during the middle of the season.
It means Pochettino may very well have to pin all of his hopes on Jackson for the remainder of the season.
