The costars reunited 17 years after ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ to discuss their latest projects
It’s a Devil Wears Prada reunion!
Seventeen years after starring together under the thumb of Meryl Streep’s Miranda Priestly in the 2006 film, Anne Hathaway and Emily Blunt gathered for a discussion as part of Variety‘s “Actors on Actors” series.
The pair recalled meeting each other with Hathaway, 41, saying, “You hadn’t been cast yet. I was hearing that your name came up, and they said, ‘It’s this amazing girl out of England and she’s so funny.’ And I remember walking into the room and turning and meeting you. In my head — instant thought — I was like, ‘What a movie star!’ ”
Hathaway, currently appearing in the indie thriller Eileen, continued, “You were shedding stardust. Then we went for coffee. I took you for a walk around where I live.”
“I was so green coming into that situation,” said Oppenheimer star Blunt, 40. “And you were like the warmest embrace. Even though you were a colossal movie star at that time, you treated me like a complete equal. You are one of the people I’ve known longest. We’ve known each other for 18 years.”

Blunt recalled of making the film, “We just had a joy bomb of a time on that movie. I don’t know if any of us knew it was going to become what it did. It’s quoted to me every week. It will be the movie that changed my life.”
While almost two decades have passed since Blunt and Hathaway made The Devil Wears Prada, both have been supportive of the idea of revisiting the beloved film.

“I would do [a sequel] in a heartbeat just to play with those guys again. It’s so fun,” Blunt said during a November 2022 appearance on The View.
At the premiere of her new film She Came to Me in New York City this past October, Hathaway told Entertainment Tonight that she “would love” to team up for a project again with Streep, 74.
“I wish. I wish. I wish. She’s very busy,” the Oscar winner added.
