Sandra Bullock had some thoughts on specific internet rumors and gossip about her, and fans found it hilarious.
Despite her timeless looks, Sandra Bullock has been a star for over three decades, and she doesn’t seem to be anywhere near the end of her career. Of course, with such a high level of fame also comes some criticism. Not everyone loves her (though Sandra has had some fans who ‘love’ her enough to stalk her), but Sandra doesn’t seem to mind.
In fact, during one awards speech, Sandra Bullock revealed her reaction to the various tidbits of gossip about her — and the result was both relatable and hilarious.
Sandra Bullock Had A Surprising Reaction To Reading Gossip About Herself
Sandra poked fun at herself while relating rumors she Googled
Sandra Bullock once admitted that she googled herself because she was curious about what people thought of her and was looking for material to write a speech.
“So I googled myself and I read the comments section thinking I would get some tidbits of what people really think of me and share them with you for humorous purposes,” Sandra said.
She continued by saying that she doesn’t recommend anyone doing what she did.
“Side note: no human being should ever read the comment section or google oneself at any time,” she cautioned the audience.
The comments she read were not something anyone would read to improve their self-esteem.
“I did learn a lot about myself; I did. Some things I was already very well aware of,” Sandra said before adding, “Things like Sandra Bullock is over 40 came up a lot.”
She dead-panned that she knew that she was over 40.
“Sandra Bullock is way past 40. Yeah, I know that too,” she continued, poking more fun at her own age.
She concluded by telling Julia Roberts, who was in attendance, that apparently, the two of them also had a feud over George Clooney, which made the audience burst into laughter.
While some fans still wonder whether Sandra Bullock ever dated George Clooney, Sandra wasn’t about to reveal whether those particular rumors were true. Yet her deadpan delivery suggests that the rumors were way off the mark.
Fans Loved Sandra’s Take On Reading About Herself Online
Despite criticism, Bullock is widely beloved by fans who appreciate her sarcasm
In the comment section of the video of Sandra’s speech, fans had a different reaction to her discovery. Most of them praised not only Sandra’s sense of humor but also her acting abilities.
Most fans found Sandra very relatable as well, saying she’s down-to-earth and someone they’d like to spend time with in real life.
More importantly for Sandra’s self-esteem, most fans didn’t seem like they would write comments about her age. One fan wrote that they had to look up her age and was shocked that she wasn’t in her forties anymore.
While some fans said Sandra’s incredible looks for her age were due to cosmetic surgery, others defended Sandra, noticing she looks the same as she did at the beginning of her career, which is proof she hasn’t had work done.
Overall, though, fans loved Sandra’s speech and one comment sums this up neatly.
“Sandra Bullock is amazing and classy! She’s hilarious, humble, and adorable. She’s one of my favorites,” one fan wrote.
This was not the only time that fans loved Sandra’s jokes. She often shows her one-of-a-kind sense of humor, and it’s part of what has earned her a massive fan following.
Sandra Bullock Is Known For Her Dry Sense Of Humor
Sandra’s self-deprecating comedic style appeals to a wide audience
Sandra often lets her off-beat humor shine, like when she showed up and interrupted Keanu Reeves’s interview. The moment came early in their careers after they had starred together in Speed.
It speaks volumes about how much her co-star enjoyed her sense of humor that Keanu didn’t mind Sandra interrupting his interview and even complimented her.
She also often lets her humor shine when she talks about her family. Sandra jokingly explained that her most important role is not one she gets paid for on screen. Instead, it is being a doting mom to her two adopted kids.
Likewise, Sandra uses her sense of humor to deal with some of the movies she acted in that received less-than-stellar reviews. Speaking about Speed 2, Sandra explained that she was still embarrassed by it, yet didn’t miss a chance to be self-deprecatory while doing so.
