The Marvels is not only the shortest superhero movie ever made, but also the worst-reviewed Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) ever.
Previously, Eternals and Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania were considered the darkest moments of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which is on the decline . . However, The Marvels ( Marvel Team ) debuted and changed the situation. The New York Post called the film directed by Nia DaCosta a sad milestone in the demise of America’s and the world’s most beloved big screen series.
The Marvels, scheduled to open in the US on November 10, belongs to Phase 5 of the MCU, revolving around the female superhero team Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, Kamala Khan/Ms. Marvel and Monica Rambeau.

The film follows the timeline of Captain Marvel (2019) and the TV series Ms. Marvel (2022). Therefore, audiences need to watch at least two prequel movies plus the WandaVision series just to know who the characters are. In addition, to understand more about the film’s context, the Kree’s 30-year war with the Skrulls, as well as the peace treaty that Nick Fury (Samuel L. Jackson) tried to negotiate but was canceled, viewers must spend more time on the Secret Invasion miniseries on Disney+. For those who don’t know anything about the MCU, this is not the right choice because it is difficult to absorb the story’s progress and understand who is who and what their role is. Even people who have watched previous movies find it difficult to remember all the important details.
After spending a considerable amount of time preparing to go to the cinema, what greeted the audience was a plot that couldn’t be older: a trio of superheroes stopping a villain (this time the Convict Dar-Benn). played by Zawe Ashton) possesses an object that possesses the omnipotent power of the universe (Quantum Band or Quantum Ring).
The three main characters do not create love for viewers. The character Captain Marvel (Brie Larson) was criticized for being bland, Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) is annoying and Monica Rambeau (Teyonah Parris) shows character stuffing. In addition, the film also has additional characters that do nothing, such as the Valkyrie warrior played by Tessa Thompson who appears briefly for one minute or Prince Yan (Park Seo Joon) who has a screen time of 2 minutes and 47 seconds with creative effects. “difficult” image… The addition of superfluous characters made director DaCosta and co-writers Megan McDonnell and Elissa Karasik judged for not knowing how to end the film appropriately.
In addition, the film cost $270 million to make, but what the audience saw seemed to be as expensive as an episode in season 5 of Stargate SG-1 , a science fiction series that aired from 1997 to 2007.

The filmmakers tried to cover up many mistakes throughout the movie with “crazy” details. There’s no compelling character development worth mentioning, don’t worry because there’s a planet called Aladna where people sing instead of talking. The silly and funny action sequences are offset by Kamala Khan’s funny family. Viewers confused from beginning to end will be soothed by the scene of a herd of alien cats boarding a spaceship.
The biggest plus point of The Marvels is its duration of only 1 hour and 45 minutes. This is the shortest MCU movie ever made. Audiences do not have to endure long, boring hours in the theater.
