Cameron Mathison: Man’s Best Friend
“So incredibly sad to say our sweet Red has lost his battle with cancer,” Mathison shared on social media. “Fortunately, he passed away peacefully while sleeping🙏🏼 He was truly my best buddy and such a huge part of our family. Every day when I came home, he would run to our driveway fence and kiss me through the bars before I came through the gate. Every single day.
“So so many great memories…grateful for all of them❤️,” the actor added. “I miss you already, sweet boy.” Last summer, Mathison shared the news with his followers that Red had been diagnosed with multiple myeloma-type cancer.
Messages of support are pouring in from Mathison’s pals in daytime. “Noooooo🥺Cammy. I am so sorry. Sending you soooo much love. He’s at the Rainbow Bridge now🌈❤️,” wrote Melissa Claire Egan (Chelsea, The Young and the Restless), who played opposite Mathison on All My Children where he was Ryan and she was Annie.
“Ohhhhh friend. I’m so so sorry 🙏🏻❤️,” posted Laura Wright (Carly). Added Mary-Margaret Humes (Gail Leery, Dawson’s Creek): “Godspeed Sweet Red ❤️ 💫 … it will be a bit easier with the passage of time my friend … speaking from experience … sending love to you and your family.”
Alicia Minshew, who played Kendall on AMC, wrote: “Oh noooo Cam. Thinking of you and your family. What a sweet boy he was 🙏❤️.” Added Kathleen Gati (Dr. Obrecht): “So sorry for the loss of your sweet dog. Condolences to you and your family. ❤️.”
Condolences also came in from Amanda Kloots (The Talk), Lauralee Bell (Christine, Y&R), Finola Hughes (Anna), Rebecca Budig (ex-Hayden), Michelle Stafford (Phyllis, Y&R), and Eva LaRue (ex-Maria, AMC). Soap Hub extends sincere condolences to Mathison and his family at this difficult time.
