‘8/10’… Local media amazed by last night’s display from 20-year-old Chelsea loanee

Chelsea loanee Omari Hutchinson must be enjoying the time of his life during a season-long loan at Ipswich Town this year.

Omari Hutchinson, who’s just 20, dropped down to the Championship this campaign in search of regular first-team football.

There’s several players out on loan from Stamford Bridge right now, including at an in-form Ipswich side.

Ipswich won 2-1 away at Watford on Tuesday evening to return to the top of the Championship table. Remarkably, they’ve won 16 out of 21 league games so far as they go in search of back-to-back promotions.

Chelsea-owned talent Hutchinson completed the full 90 minutes last night and made a great impression.

Local media reaction

Local media was left amazed by the individual contribution from Hutchinson in Ipswich’s win yesterday.

The 20-year-old attacker was influential in an equalising goal. He was heavily involved all night with his trickery and pace from the right wing, too.

East Anglian Daily Times wrote: “A real nuisance. His shot created the opener, but he was the constant outlet down the right. Didn’t always get his decisions spot on, and his crosses were occasionally a little wide of the mark, but it felt like everything positive went through him. 8/10.”

Omari Hutchinson impresses

Hutchinson’s now played 23 games across all competitions this season for Ipswich, albeit he’s not always a nailed-on starter in a competitive squad.

The skilful wide player is getting the experience he needs at senior level, so we’re excited to see how he compares to Chelsea’s first team players during next summer’s pre season.

For now, the youngster can enjoy his football in a team that’s currently flying. The pressure will only crank up in the second half of the season as they move closer and closer to the reality of promotion

Speaking via The Athletic last month, Hutchinson openly admitted that his ultimate aim is to win the Champions League with Chelsea. He shared his immediate goals to shine with Ipswich this year, too.

There’s no doubt that the season at Portman Road is going to be so influential in anything he goes and achieves further down the line.
