Brendan Fraser might have joined DC rather than Marvel; however, a throwback fan art imagines the actor as the perfect 90s version of Star-Lord.
Brendan Fraser makes for the perfect Star-Lord in incredible 90s Marvel fan art. Chris Pratt plays Peter Quill, aka Star-Lord, in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While the Guardians of the Galaxy have disbanded, with Rocket Raccoon forming a new team, Pratt’s Star-Lord will return to the MCU for an unknown adventure of his own in a future MCU project. While Pratt as Star-Lord is phenomenal casting, a throwback fan art makes the case that Fraser would have been a pitch-perfect choice for the role in the 90s.
The fan art pictures a fresh out of The Mummy Fraser joining Marvel as Star-Lord, with the actor looking effortlessly cool in a leather jacket. Based on the actor’s past roles, 90s Fraser would have been able to bring both the physicality and the comedic timing that are necessary for the role. While that casting never happened, Pratt went on to appear in three Guardians of the Galaxy movies and more as Star-Lord to great success.
Will Brendan Fraser Ever Join The MCU?
Fraser Has Already Appeared In DC Projects
While he has yet to play a role in a Marvel movie, Fraser is no stranger to superhero projects. The actor played one of the lead roles in DC’s Doom Patrol, giving life to the hilarious Robotman for all of the show’s four seasons. Fraser was also set to appear as the Batman villain Firefly in Batgirl; however, the movie was the first in Warner Bros. Discovery’s list of tax write-offs.
Now that his roles at DC are over, Fraser could potentially make the move to the MCU, finally giving life to a Marvel hero. When Marvel was developing the first of director Tim Story’s Fantastic Four movies, Fraser was rumored to be in consideration for the role of Reed Richards, which ultimately went to Ioan Gruffudd. The actor has since remained removed from the MCU’s rumor mill; however, following a career comeback in The Whale, Marvel fans have been pitching several possible roles for Fraser.
Some of those characters include the long-requested Beta Ray Bill, the cosmic hero Nova, and the MCU versions of Spider-Man villains the Lizard and Doctor Octopus. However, the most popular fan choice for Fraser in the MCU might be that of The Thing in Marvel’s upcoming Fantastic Four movie. While The Bear‘s Ebon Moss-Bachrach is heavily rumored to have been cast as Ben Grimm for the MCU, Fraser would be an excellent choice for the role, with the actor having the range to showcase Ben’s comedic timing and tragic personal condition. Through the Multiverse Saga, a Star-Lord variant like in the fan art would also be perfect for Fraser.
