10 Biggest Unanswered Questions After Loki Season 2

Tom Hiddleston’s Loki season 2 came to an end in November 2023, but there are still many unanswered questions from the epic season finale.

The epic finale of Loki season 2 left many questions unanswered, and there’s no sign of the MCU solving these mysteries anytime soon. Marvel Studios’ Loki series on Disney+ marked a huge transformation for Tom Hiddleston’s God of Mischief following his great escape after the Battle of New York during Avengers: Endgame’s Time Heist. After Loki season 1 saw the Sacred Timeline destroyed, 2023’s follow-up season featured Loki and his new team at the Time Variance Authority fighting to adjust the Temporal Loom and protect the multiverse. Loki season 2 revealed many new details pertinent to the MCU’s Multiverse Saga, but posed even more questions that have gone unanswered.

After realizing that the Temporal Loom couldn’t be adjusted in Loki season 2’s intense finale, Loki used his new command over time and his god-like magic to destroy the Loom and assume its role for himself. Setting himself up as the protector of the multiverse, Loki finally became a bona fide hero in the MCU, completing his redemption arc but leaving his future in Marvel Studios’ franchise unclear. Loki’s future isn’t the only uncertainty following the conclusion of the Phase 5 series, though, as there are several major loose ends that Marvel Studios still hasn’t addressed even weeks after Loki season 2’s finale.

10Who Is Running The TVA Now?

Has Hunter B-15 Taken On A Leadership Role?

Originally, the Time Variance Authority was introduced as an organization that oversaw the Sacred Timeline, pruning timelines and variants in an effort to prevent new variants of Kang the Conqueror from emerging. The role of the TVA changed drastically in Loki season 2, particularly after Loki became a God, as the organization now oversees the branching timelines of the multiverse, but the TVA’s new leadership hasn’t been revealed. Jonathan Majors’ He Who Remains had previously run the TVA from behind the scenes, but it seems as though Wunmi Mosaku’s Hunter B-15 may have moved into a management position in his place, though it’s unclear exactly who is running the show.

9Will Mobius Return To The TVA?

Mobius Was Last Seen Watching His Variant

Owen Wilson’s Mobius was introduced in Loki season 1 as a steadfast TVA analyst, and the man who took on Loki’s case, hoping to employ the God of Mischief to track down his own variant: Sophia Di Martino’s Sylvie. After learning the truth about the TVA, however, Mobius helped Loki and Sylvie to reinvent the organization, yet Loki season 2’s finale left it unclear whether he would continue his important work. Mobius was last seen in a branched timeline observing his own variant, Don, and his children, leaving his future in the MCU ambiguous. Even so, Mobius has been rumored to appear in 2024’s Deadpool 3 alongside other TVA members.

8Where Did Sylvie Go After Speaking To Mobius?

Sylvie’s Next Steps In The MCU Are Unclear

Much like Mobius, Sylvie’s next steps after Loki season 2’s finale have been left open-ended. In Loki season 2’s final moments, Sylvie spoke to Mobius on a branching timeline before walking off to location’s unknown. In a recent interview with GamesRadar+, Di Martino noted that she’d love to continue playing Sylvie, particularly since it seems her time living a normal life as a McDonald’s worker is now over. It’s possible that Sylvie could replace Loki as the MCU’s primary version of the God of Mischief, perhaps even making her way into the MCU’s main continuity and interacting with other heroes, though this remains to be seen.

7Why Can Ouroboros Remember The Past?

Ouroboros’ Backstory Is Still A Huge Mystery

One of the biggest mysteries introduced in Loki season 2 was Ke Huy Quan’s Ouroboros, a.k.a. OB. The TVA’s maintenance worker and repair man, OB has a huge amount of knowledge of all the equipment and functions of the TVA. While OB’s backstory as A. D. Doug was revealed in Loki season 2, his experiences in the TVA didn’t get explored, especially the question as to how he can remember the past when everyone else has had their memories wiped. There are many questions surrounding Loki season 2’s OB, so hopefully Ke Huy Quan will return in the MCU’s future to clear up some of these.

6Has Miss Minutes Really Been Reformed?

Miss Minutes Returned In Loki Season 2’s Finale

Miss Minutes, the TVA’s anthropomorphic clock mascot, received a larger role in Loki season 2, though revealed herself to be something of a villain, despite being shown as a helpful presence during 2021’s season 1. Miss Minutes revealed that she had worked closely with He Who Remains prior to his death, and even before the Multiversal War, and her more villainous tendencies came to the forefront in terrifying fashion. This poses the question whether she is actually reformed by the end of Loki season 2. Miss Minutes was brought back online in season 2’s finale, but her villainous notions may not have disappeared, suggesting she could still be a problem.

5What Will Happen To Victor Timely Now?

The TVA No Longer Intervenes In Victor Timely’s Life

After portraying He Who Remains in Loki season 1, and several Kang the Conqueror variants in Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, Jonathan Majors returned in Loki season 2 as 19th Century inventor Victor Timely. Early in Timely’s life, he was gifted a TVA guidebook by Ravonna Renslayer and Miss Minutes, manipulating him into designing the Temporal Loom, and eventually bringing him into contact with Loki and Mobius. However, Loki season 2’s finale rewrote this story, as Victor Timely now grows up without the TVA’s intervention. Even so, Timely is still a Kang variant, so his MCU future is unclear, though one theory suggests he could become the superhero Iron Lad.

4Did Ravonna Renslayer Survive Loki Season 2’s Finale?

Ravonna Renslayer Was In The Void At The End Of Loki Season 2

Gugu Mbatha-Raw’s Ravonna Renslayer saw some huge revelations in Loki season 2, including the fact that she had a relationship with He Who Remains, and had helped the Kang variant win the Multiversal War. In an effort to seize control of the TVA, Renslayer worked with Miss Minutes to manipulate Victor Timely, and also killed high-ranking TVA workers, including General Dox. However, she was still pruned and sent to the Void, where she was doused in a purple glow – presumably by the creature Alioth. While this could have hinted at her demise, her fate hasn’t been sealed, so it’s possible Renslayer may return in the MCU’s future.

3Is Kang the Conqueror Still The MCU’s Biggest Villain?

Marvel Studios May Be Moving Away From Kang The Conqueror

Following Jonathan Majors’ arrest and assault allegations in March 2023, Kang the Conqueror’s future in the MCU has been thrown into jeopardy, despite Majors’ appearance as Victor Timely and He Who Remains in Loki season 2. In recent months, speculation has suggested that Marvel Studios may be moving away from Kang the Conqueror, hinting at the villain no longer being presented as the primary antagonist of the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. Although nothing has yet been confirmed, it’s possible that Loki season 2 marked the end of Kang the Conqueror’s story, though it remains to be seen what the future holds for the MCU’s terrifying new villain.

2Is The Multiversal War Still Coming To The MCU?

The Timeline Of The Multiversal War Hasn’t Been Revealed

Loki season 2 did work to provide more backstory regarding the mysterious Multiversal War that was first teased in season 1, yet didn’t explore the battle in any detail. Ravonna Renslayer was revealed to have had a major role in the Multiversal War, but it seems the idea of many variants of Kang the Conqueror battling each other is still slowly being set up for a future MCU project, possibly 2026’s Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. While recent Kang the Conqueror developments may throw a spanner in the works, it’s possible that audiences may still see a Multiversal War in the MCU’s future, though it’s unclear what form this will take.

1Will Loki Return In The MCU’s Future?

Loki Became A True Hero In Loki Season 2’s Finale

Tom Hiddleston’s journey as the MCU’s Loki appears to be over after Loki season 2, as the God of Mischief has renounced his villainous past and become a bona fide God in the MCU. Loki now sits watching over the infinite branches of the multiverse, and using his magic to ensure their survival. By doing this, he has resigned himself to an eternity in isolation, but protects his friends and family across the multiverse. This perhaps suggests Loki won’t easily be able to return in the MCU’s future, though with the Multiverse Saga coming to an end with 2027’s Avengers: Secret Wars, it’s possible his new role could be short-lived.
