But plans have been made to allow the late rapper to perform alongside hip hop legends Dr Dre and Snoop Dog as a 3D image on stage.

The secret segment could see the trio sing hit California Love, originally recorded by Tupac and Dre in 1995.

Tupac’s resurrection in virtual form was previously seen at the Coachella Music Festival in 2012, when Dre and Snoop were twin headliners of the three-day event.

It was created by Janelle Croshaw, visual effects supervisor of Academy Award-winning studio Digital Domain, and her team in just six weeks especially for the show.

Since Tupac came back to life on stage, many other artists have appeared posthumous.

In 2020, songstress Whitney Houston appeared as a hologram in a sold out UK tour.

The likes of Buddy Holly and Roy Orbison have also been brought back from the dead for special concerts.

Previously, Dr Dre said that the Tupac hologram was only for Coachella.

“It was strictly for Coachella. Get it right,” Dre revealed to Rolling Stone magazine.

“I want to get rid of all the rumours out there. This was not done for a tour. If a tour happens, we’ll see.”

Super Bowl 2022 takes place at the SoFi stadium in Los Angeles, California on February 13.

The eagerly-anticipated half-time show will also feature music luminaries Eminem, Kendrick Lamar, and Mary J. Blige.
