Deadpool 2 is a whole another level of crazy. A completely new level of insanity you might say. Wade Wilson aka Ryan Reynolds saying the fight is taking place with CGI and savors the mind boggling action stunts. But hands behold; nothing is a match for growing baby legs scene with Blind Al. Earlier tore in half by Juggernaut in a fight, his legs re-generate while he’s stuck on the couch with Al.
We start seeing tiny toddler legs which he stumbles to walk with. Then Cable walks in and when the truce occurs Deadpool starts walking over to him with his newly grown baby legs.
But very few people know about the visual effects of the film. To pull off the legs gag, director David Leitch entrusted with production visual effects supervisor Dan Glass and VFX studio Double Negative to work their effort. Ryan Reynolds wore a track suit which was used for chroma key manipulation. With the intensive use of visual effects training the team pulled off such a marvelous scene without any falters.
The scene where Ryan Reynolds walks towards Josh Brolin was actually him walking on his knees with the same chroma key manipulated track pant on. Ryan Reynolds is known for his improvisation and input in the character’s dialogues and scenes. This scene had a great level of contribution from him. He sat with the visual effects team. Reynolds received a brief visual effects training session from his crew. They asked him to keep his upper body relatively straight and push the torso a little pouted. In this way it will be easy for the visual effects artists to further manipulate the scene.
Long story short, they are CG legs with CG toes but the modeling movements are very much real. This was a real and big time upgrade from the first film. In comparison to arms the feet were more difficult to design. In the former one he was just wearing a green prop which made the arm replaceable but with feet there were actual alterations over the real foot.
Any other Marvel movie that comes next will have to compete with this film’s imagery direction. Stay tuned for more such awesome revelations!
