The Marvels Online Release Date Revealed: When Will It Start Streaming?

Disney has officially confirmed when The Marvels will be available on digital platforms and the exact special features and deleted scenes that will be available with its release! The film’s digital release has led many fans to wonder when exactly The Marvels will start streaming on Disney+?

Marvel Studios’ 33rd theatrical movie hit theaters worldwide on November 10 as the latest entry in the MCU’s Phase 5 slate, although it became arguably the franchise’s biggest big-screen disappointment to date.

While tying the worst Audience Score in MCU history with a B, it also earned less than every other MCU movie ever made in theaters, barely crossing the $200 million mark at the global box office (via Box Office Pro).

The Marvels Gets Online Release Update

Following Marvel Studios’ The Marvels debuting in theaters, MCU fans found out when the film will be available for online purchase.

The MCU sequel will be available via online marketplaces on Tuesday, January 16, allowing fans to buy the film on digital platforms like Apple TV, Amazon, and Google Play.

This will mark a 67-day gap between The Marvels‘ theatrical and online release dates, although there is no official word on when the movie will be available to stream on Disney+.

In January 2024, an official press release obtained by The Direct revealed more details about The Marvels‘ physical release.

The MCU sequel will be available on 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD on February 13.

A preview of the steel book covers for the physical release shows the main heroic trio in front while Goose and her flerkittens are highlighted at the back and the inside of the case respectively:

Fans can also gain access to exclusive bonus content, including deleted scenes, a gag reel, behind-the-scenes featurettes, and audio commentary from The Marvels co-writer and director Nia DaCosta and VFX Supervisor Tara DeMarco.

There are four deleted scenes that will be included in the bonus features, mainly revolving around the main heroes, Muneeba’s time in space, and an intense chase scene.

The first deleted scene showcases Kamala switching places with Carol and picking up a call from Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie:

Captain-in-Residence – Kamala finds herself in Carol’s ship after an unexpected switch and incredulously picks up a call from Valkyrie.

Another deleted scene revolves around Carol, Kamala, and Monica discussing their plan to save Aladna:

It’s Under Control – Carol, Kamala, and Monica find themselves brainstorming for solutions on Aladna.

Muneeba, Kamala’s mother, is pushed to the forefront in a new deleted scene as she shares her passion for yoga with Nick Fury’s agents:

Space Yoga – Muneeba teaches yoga while an exasperated Nick Fury looks on.

A high-stakes chase scene between Dar-Benn’s adviser, Ty-Rone, and Kamala Khan caps off the deleted scenes list:

The Chase – Chaos ensues as Ty-Rone chases Kamala in a tension-filled scene.

A couple of featurettes are also set to be included in the bonus features.

Entangled will focus on how The Marvels director Nia Dacosta handled the sequel’s massive production and how she pulled off the MCU’s first-ever musical number in Aladna.

The Production Diaries showcases the feel-good moments of the cast and crew while filming The Marvels.

When Will The Marvels Debut on Disney+?

Looking at recent MCU movies’ Disney+ debuts will help give a better perspective on when The Marvels will get its chance to shine on Disney’s global streaming service.

2022’s Black Panther: Wakanda Forever set the previous MCU record for the longest theatrical-to-streaming debut with an 82-day wait between those two dates, which made sense after the film grossed nearly $860 million at the box office.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 then had its own Disney+ release 89 days after hitting theaters after the blockbuster threequel came close to Black Panther 2‘s box office total with about $845 million in total.

The one movie that will likely indicate more closely when The Marvels will hit Disney+ is Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, which had a 90-day gap between its releases.

Important to note, however, is that the Ant-Man threequel also dealt with the legal issues surrounding Jonathan Majors as he faced domestic abuse charges in court.

Should The Marvels come close to the 80-90 day range for hitting Disney+ after hitting theaters, and considering MCU movies usually come on Tuesdays, this film could hit Disney+ sometime between January 30 and February 13.

But there’s also a chance Marvel could bring the film to Disney’s streaming service earlier when taking into account how heavily the film was criticized and how badly it flopped at the box office.

The Marvels will be available for online purchase starting on Tuesday, January 16.
