Furious Erik ten Hag can’t hide anger over latest Man Utd injustice – “All season”

Manchester United led twice at Old Trafford against Tottenham on Sunday but had to settle for a draw after the visitors fought back to earn a point while Erik ten Hag was left seething

Furious Erik ten Hag said Manchester United were denied a clear penalty – and claimed it has been a pattern all season.

Ten Hag’s United remain eight points off the top four, after being held as Tottenham twice came from behind to secure a point at Old Trafford‌. With United leading 1-0, Alejandro Garnacho seemed to be held back by Destiny Udogie in the 32nd minute, but neither ref John Brooks or VAR

‌Asked if he felt United should have had a penalty, Ten Hag said: “Yes. But what can you do?‌ But I’m used to it, all season that’s the case. At Spurs it was similar, there was a clear handball from Romero and I can list a number more.

‌“In some point in the season I think it will turn to our side. Let’s hope for that.”‌

Goals from Rasmus Hojlund and Marcus Rashford were cancelled out by a Richarlison header and an equaliser 50 seconds into the second-half from Rodrigo Bentancur.‌ Ten Hag praised his side for the goals they scored but blasted his defence for the “soft” ones they conceded.

‌“I think we scored two great goals and we concede two very soft goals,” said the United boss.‌ “We should concede set plays better. The second goal, from a goal kick, we should defend better.

‌”The first is the corner and we got two warnings. You have to be more physical. That shouldn’t happen.”

New United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe watched the game and Ten hag said: “He will have seen a team fighting for each other and trying to get a win. He will have seen two great goals.

“But also what he would have noticed is we should be more man when we have to defend corners.”

Spurs boss Ange Posetcoglou said: “I thought it was an outstanding performance, considering the team we had out there.

“Every time these players have to deal with adversity, they do it and I thought we were unlucky not to win.”
