Barcelona were unable to sustain their unbeaten streak this season, as they fell to a narrow 2-1 defeat at the hands of Real Madrid.
It was a difficult loss to digest for Xavi Hernandez’s men, who had the chance to topple their eternal rivals at the top of the league table.
Robert Lewandowski reacts to Real Madrid loss
Speaking to the media after the game, Robert Lewandowski reacted to the defeat, suggesting that Real Madrid did not deserve the three points.
“An undeserved win for Real Madrid,” Lewandowski said (h/t FCB World). “Of course, they got the three points, but the league is long and we will not give up.”
Following the defeat, Barcelona now remain in the third position of the league table, four points behind the top two Girona and Real Madrid.
If the Catalans had won, they would have topped the table, with Girona sitting in second and Real Madrid in third position.

It was a disappointing game for Lewandowski, who was made his return from injury in the Clasico, although he could not start the game against Real Madrid.
Lewandowski was brought in around the hour mark. He was a valuable addition to the Barcelona attack, even though it didn’t result in much.
The Pole, though, is upbeat about Barcelona’s chances of winning La Liga this season despite this recent setback. His words were echoed by another Barça star in Gavi.
It must also be mentioned that Lewandowski should be fully fit when Barcelona take on Real Sociedad next weekend.
