Hugh Jackman Says He “Loved” Filming Deadpool 3 With Ryan Reynolds But “Not The Training & Diet”

As Deadpool 3 wraps filming, Hugh Jackman shares a sweet message on returning as Wolverine while also addressing the training and diet.

Hugh Jackman opens up about his upcoming Marvel Cinematic Universe appearance as Wolverine in Deadpool 3, sharing what he will and will not miss about the experience. After having initially retired as the beloved X-Men character, Jackman is joining the Deadpool 3 cast as he reprises the role of Wolverine. Very little has been revealed so far about how exactly Wolverine is coming back, other than the fact that it will not affect the Logan ending.

The Deadpool 3 movie is one step closer to finally being ready for the world as filming has reached its end. Since Jackman is done filming, the Australian X-Men actor shared an update on X after having worked on the upcoming MCU movie.

Jackman thanked the entire Deadpool 3 production, calling it “the best cast and crew,” as well as praising the work of Reynolds and director Shawn Levy. However, the 6.8% part that Jackman is happy to be done with is “the training and diet,” making it clear that it was a challenging aspect of his MCU debut.

Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine Training & Diet Explained

As Jackman has played Wolverine in the original X-Men movies, as well as in his own trilogy, his workout regime has always been a major aspect of his characterization of Logan. Whether it was for The WolverineX-Men: Days of Future PastLogan or Deadpool 3, Jackman has talked about the major lengths to which he has gone to get his Wolverine physique. However, as impressive as the end results always are, his training and diet is not an easy one, to say the least.

For Deadpool 3, Jackman was consuming 8,000 calories a day while bulking up once again as Wolverine. From lifting weights to cardio, it is definitely understandable that it was more demanding than ever on Jackman, who is 55 years old. Even when Deadpool 3 had paused filming in light of the SAG-AFTRA strike, Jackman was still working out, and maintaining his Wolverine shape.

Given his dedication to getting back into Wolverine shape, it will be exciting to see the end result throughout Deadpool 3. With one of Jackman’s strengths being his ability as an action star, it will certainly be worth it for the audience as he plays Logan (most likely) one final time. Hopefully, soon the Deadpool 3 trailer will be ready for the world now that principal photography is done.
