Dragon Ball Daima’s new trailer gives fans a reason to be hyped as Goku faces off against a horde of new villains in a thrilling scene.
Fans of Dragon Ball Daima should rejoice as a trailer and more information about one of the year’s biggest anime was revealed at DRAGON BALL Games Battle Hour 2024. While the event was primarily dedicated to Dragon Ball games such as the upcoming DRAGON BALL: Sparking! Zero, one of the event’s biggest panels was dedicated to showcasing the hotly anticipated Dragon Ball Daima.
The trailer, revealed during the Dragon Ball Daima panel and presented by Dragon Ball executive producer Akio Toyuki, showcases young Goku in action as he eats and fights off a group of monsters. There is a real emphasis on movement in the trailer as Goku flips and brawls with his monstrous assailants. After the panel, Toei Animation published the trailer to their Youtube channel for fans to watch.
Following the trailer, art of the characters in their younger forms was shown. Designs for younger Goku, Krillin, Mr. Satan, Android 18, Chi-Chi, and Majin Buu were shown off. Artwork of the monsters Goku faced off against were also shown off, though Toyuki was deliberately cagey about giving details about them.
Thrilling New Daima Trailer Shows Goku Vs a Mysterious New Threat
What’s most interesting about the trailer and artwork shown is the villains. The monsters Goku face appear much more monstrous than the ones fans are used to seeing in Dragon Ball. Though the villain designs are distinctly Toriyama, the green and red monsters look more like creatures from Monster Quest than ones from Dragon Ball. The purple creatures seem far more civilized and organized. Though their ears and lavender skin tone might immediately draw comparisons to Beerus, their lack of tails and distinct snouts implies any visual similarity is just happenstance.
While the trailer and the new designs are certainly exciting, all of it feels more like hints at something rather than anything concrete. Given that Dragon Ball executive producer Akio Toyuki was secretive about the villains, it’s possible that these villains share a larger connection to the series’ lore. One possibility is that Daima is setting the stage for the return of Dabura. Dabura was king of the Demon Realm, so the demonic assailants Goku faces in the trailer could be out to resurrect the Demon King.
Dragon Ball Daima Already Looks Like a Fresh New Start For the Franchise
Regardless of who Daima’s final villain ends up being, the trailer displays how much potential Daima has. Instead of being a retread of the series’ greatest hits like G.T. and even Super to a certain extent, Daima seems to be taking Dragon Ball in a new direction. Daima doesn’t quite look like anything else in the series. The animation is superb and the choreography is top-notch, so no matter which villain Goku faces at the end of Dragon Ball Daima, this new trailer should assure fans that at least the new anime will be a visual marvel.
