LeBron James shared a brief moment with Buffalo Bills safety Damar Hamlin at Madison Square Garden on Saturday night.
After leading the Los Angeles Lakers in breaking the New York Knicks‘ nine-game win streak, James was captured talking to Hamlin on his way back to the locker room.
The meeting came six months after Hamlin expressed his support for James’ family when his son, Bronny, suffered a cardiac arrest during a training session with the USC Trojans. In January of 2023, Hamlin also suffered a cardiac arrest in the middle of a game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Both have since recovered and returned to their respective sports.
‘How’s Bronny bro?’ Hamlin asked James after they shared a handshake and a hug.
‘Great man, great man, appreciate it’ James replied as they engaged in a quick conversation.

James reached out to Hamlin’s family when the Bills safety suffered a cardiac arrest in 2023
Following his terrifying collapse against the Bengals, Hamlin decided to continue playing after making a full recovery. When Bronny suffered a cardiac arrest in July, Hamlin mentioned how he wanted support the USC freshman as the James family supported him through his recovery.
‘Honestly, a super big reminder,’ Hamlin said in August. ‘It put everything back in perspective for me. But prayers out to [James] and prayers out to his family.’
‘They’ve been really big and supportive in reaching out to my family as well. So, I just want to be able to extend that back to them,’ Hamlin added. ‘And I wanted to let him know I’ll be there for whatever he needs on his journey as far as his recovery and getting back to his sport if that’s what he chooses to do.’
