Inter Miami Manager’s Insights: Areas for Improvement Identified in Luis Suarez’s Performance after Newell’s Old Boys Match.

Inter Miami manager Tata Martino has revealed that Luis Suarez needs more time to connect with his teammates after last night’s clash against Newell’s Old Boys.

The 37-year-old striker joined the Florida franchise this winter in one of the biggest MLS deals of the year, with Suarez reuniting with former FC Barcelona teammates Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets and Jordi Alba.

With Inter Miami set to be the final club of Suarez’s illustrious career, the attacker will want to impress in MLS, where this year the Herons could create history given their star power.

Yet speaking to the Miami Herald, manager Martino has revealed that Suarez needs more time to adjust to playing with his new teammates, with the attacker failing to connect outside of Messi against Newell’s Old Boys.

Martino said when asked how Suarez is looking after Inter Miami pre-season: “Physically he looked good, but what impeded his preseason is not enough time working with the group.

“Leo, Busquets and Alba know him from before but the other players don’t know his tendencies, especially players who will be in the attack with him, like Gressel and Gomez. They need more time together.”

Tata Martino has hit the nail on the head with Luis Suarez at Inter Miami

Suarez will no doubt turn into a brilliant signing if the striker can remain fit and form a connection with his new Inter Miami teammates.

But Martino has hit the nail on the head over assessing the attacker this pre-season, with Suarez in a position where he needs to build chemistry with his new teammates outside the Barcelona group.

If Inter Miami are to succeed, Suarez needs to ensure he is working well with every single player in the squad, with last night showing that work still needs to be done.

Although Suarez isn’t alone on this front, the attacker is the newest player that could make the biggest difference, with the Uruguay international key to Inter Miami’s plans this season.
