One Piece: Sanji’s Light Shattering Powers, Explained

Sanji’s powers are a perfect counter to Kizaru in One Piece.

Sanji, the cook of the Straw Hat Pirates, is an incredibly powerful individual that fans have seen quite a lot of in the Egghead arc. In fact, Sanji has been one of the MVPs of this arc already, and he has fought some of the most high-profile battles against some of the strongest individuals in the entire series. More recently, Sanji was seen engaging in combat against Admiral Kizaru, who fans know to be a very powerful individual with a bounty of 3 crowns, which equates to 3 billion berries, on his head.

Sanji was seen battling against him in One Piece chapter 1107 officially, and he did it in quite some fashion, managing to not just block Kizaru’s stronger attacks, but actually shattering light itself. This is an incredible power that he holds up his sleeve, and it has many deep secrets behind it.

Sanji Vs Kizaru On Egghead

Sanji versus Kizaru is a fight that was inevitably going to happen in One Piece at some point. In fact, this is something that fans knew even before the timeskip happened. Kizaru can be a kick fighter, which makes him very similar to Sanji and, because of that, fans knew that they might clash at some point in the future of the story. To make things more interesting, both Sanji and Kizaru are speed-based fighters and this is another similarity between them, which gave fans hope that, at some point, Sanji would fight against him.

On Egghead Island, when Kizaru arrived, fans believed Luffy would be the one to take him down, however, with the threat of Saturn, it was clear for the fans to see that Luffy would focus on him instead. Meanwhile, Zoro was busy with Lucci, which would then mean that Kizaru was going to be left up to Sanji to deal with. Although it took some patience, Kizaru vs Sanji has finally happened in One Piece chapter 1107 and it was surely magnificent to witness. This time around, Kizaru targeted Vegapunk and Bonney, and decided to kill them with his light based powers.

However, in the nick of time, Sanji arrived and kicked away Kizaru’s light beam. This was quite different from the block that finds usually see, or a deflection. In fact, Sanji managed to shatter light itself, scattering it everywhere with his powerful kick, something that even shocked Kizaru himself, who usually is a very laid-back person.

Sanji’s Power Or Love Transformation

Of course, the secret to Sanji’s power to scatter and crush light like he did is his power of love transformation. Sanji was given an incredible power up in the land of Wano and this ability allowed him to transform into a monstrous fighter once his eyebrows swung to the opposite direction. As soon as that happens, Sanji then gains the power that his siblings hold as well, only in his case, they appear to be much, much stronger, which can be attributed to the fact that he has trained quite a lot without these powers already, meaning his body is much tougher, to begin with. In the case of Sanji, he made it quite clear in the fight against Queen that what he gains from this transformation is, first of all, a very tough exoskeleton. Added to that is the muscle mass that is put on his body with this transformation.

If that wasn’t enough, all of this makes Sanji incredibly fast and that only means that he can now be considered even more dangerous, becoming much stronger than ever before. When that is combined with his finely honed the Color of Armament, Sanji can then sustain stronger flames and lightning on his legs through Ifrit Jambe.

When it comes to his exoskeleton, fans know that Sanji can take quite a lot of damage and shrug it off. This means Sanji’s durability is among the highest when it comes to the One Piece fighters. In fact, he even showcased his superior defense against a Seraphim, who fans know are impossible to penetrate, to begin with.

The Secret To Sanji’s Light Shattering Powers

When it comes to the light-shattering power that Sanji displayed in One Piece chapter 1107, the clue lies in the exoskeleton itself. Essentially, the exoskeleton that Sanji has, had boosted his strength and physical attributes considerably. Sanji is even stronger than his siblings by far at this point in the story, and that just goes to show that the exoskeleton has strengthened a lot due to Sanji having emotions, and undergoing better training. Sanji also has added muscle mass, and of course, the willpower to take attacks so strong head-on.

While the exoskeleton is incredibly tough on its own, it is not the only thing that Sanji used in One Piece chapter 1107. Sanji usually combines his finely honed Color of Armament when he utilizes his exoskeleton. This gives him an even tougher leg, capable of striking and scattering light itself, which should not be possible, according to human understanding. By combining these powers, Sanji gains enough strength to not just block or deflect light, but actually shatter it so it doesn’t continue in its path or take a different path.

Of course, many people are confused by the incredible ability that Sanji has. However, it is actually quite simple to understand. Sanji has tremendous durability when he activates his germa mode, and, at the same time, he’s faster, stronger, and can sustain much hotter flames on his legs, making him overall much better as a fighter. Now that he has done it against Kizaru and even shocked him, a person who usually maintains his cool and aloof demeanor, Sanji has eyes on him.

Sanji vs Kizaru

In One Piece chapter 1107, the fight between Sanji and Kizaru finally begins. When Kizaru was going for the kill against Vegapunk and Bonney, Sanji stepped in and saved their lives. This kick-started a confrontation between the two. Kizaru has already decided that he cannot return to the Navy unless he brings the head of Luffy and Sanji, to which the latter replied that he better draft an apology letter then. This is a clear indication of the fact that Sanji intends to stay and fight this battle out to the very end. He has also activated his Power of Love transformation already, which means that Sanji is ready to go.

In the upcoming chapter, this fight is likely going to continue and fans will most definitely see Kizsru launching some powerful attacks on Sanji, with the latter tanking them all. At the same time, there is also the fact that Sanji could very well manifest the power of Ifrit in the upcoming chapters to fight against Kizaru, and that is something that every fan is incredibly excited about. For now, fans have been given a clear idea of how strong Sanji is, and that he can even take on an admiral. This was something that fans directly wanted to see from him, and he has delivered.

One Piece is available to read via Viz Media. The series can be read by the fans officially and for free on the Shonen Jump and the Manga Plus app. The release date for the next chapter of One Piece, One Piece 1108, is set to be February 25, 2024.
