The band announced two weeks ago that the show, which was scheduled for Monday March 4, would no longer be going ahead due to ‘unanticipated logistical issues outside of the band’s control.’

Posting to Instagram on Sunday, Travis shared a series of photos and videos taken during the band’s performances in Australia and Auckland, along with the caption: ‘Tour was over, we’d survived’.

‘Tour shouldn’t have been over… was supposed to be seeing you tomorrow night,’ one frustrated fan commented.

‘Tour’s over because Christchurch missed out,’ another added, as someone else lamented: ‘What about Christchurch!!!???’

Adding insult to injury, the Californian pop punk trio took a dig at Christchurch during a recent Melbourne concert.

In a clip that has gone viral on social media, Travis is seen mistakenly addressing the Melbourne crowd as Sydney, before bassist Mark Hoppus interjected: ‘To be honest Sydney sucked so f***ing bad, we had to cancel Christchurch’.

Guitarist Tom DeLonge added: ‘F**k Christchurch. That’s a gnarly name for a town, can you imagine naming your f**king city that?’

Christchurch city councilor Andrei Moore promptly slammed the band on social media over their comments, writing: ‘Disappointing to learn of Blink-182 saying “F*** Christchurch” on stage in Melbourne after cancelling their sold-out show that many Christchurch folk and visitors bought tickets for 18 months in advance.’

‘We’ve been through more than our fair share of challenges over the years which have led to many concert cancellations but I can’t ever recall any of them being followed up with an attitude as bad as this one,’ Moore added.
